The subbox is definitely a great starter kit for sure, there's a couple reasons I suggested the IPV D2…the YiHi chipset being one, the main reason is the temp control, even if you don't use it right away is there when you're ready and you won't have to buy a new device when you are, and I prefer it's all metal construction vs the plastic, I also find the the D2 has a more friendly 510 connector if you're using different types of atomizers.

IMHO, Kanger Subtank (or Subox Kit) suits only half of the beginners. Its not for a normal cigarette draw, it's mostly for a lung inhale like hookah.
I recommend Aspire Triton with 1.8ohm coil heads + Pioneer4You iPV D2 Box Mod
(or Eleaf iStick 40W - it's very cheap)

Doesnt the subox mini starter kit comes with a 1.5ohm coil as well? was thinking of using that for the mouth to lung inhale.

Depends what you're looking for. There are a lot of really good tobaccos, menthols, fruit and dessert flavors available. If you're just starting out make sure to get a high enough level of nicotine as well.
I would go into a brick and mortar (B&M) shop and try a few out.

Welcome! I got a subox kit as well and it was first subohm setup after vaping on a provari for 2 years. It's a great starter kit but didn't last me long as I already replaced it with a Sigelei 150w tc.

Here's my suggestion.

Eleaf iStick 40w Kit Temperature Control Box Mod with GS-Tank Best Matching Kit - Cvapor.com

Or an eleaf 30w and a nautilus mini tank.

The D2 isn't really an entry level device. The subox kit is good but won't last you long if you want to do higher wattage subohming and won't give you that MTL action most beginners want.

The Eleaf TC 40w kit I think gives a starter a way to get that MTL feel, a way to play with lower powered subohm tanks (like the Kanger mini) and allows an entry into tc without the need to buy another mod.
