I am using a Kanger Protank 2 connected to a Winder Ego VV smok brand battery. I had used the orginal Kanger Protank and never really experienced an issue with burnt taste (besides a dry hit every now and then which were my fault), however, after upgrading to the Protank 2 I seem to be having a lot of issues.

I typically vape at either 3.6 - 4.0 volts. The coil I am currently using is a fresh 1.8 ohm coil, but I have put 2.5's in as well and have had the issue. My girlfriend has used the tank as well and she only vapes at 3.2.

What could be the issue here? I am desperately trying to resolve it as soon as possible because, where as I may have patience for snags in my newly obtained habit, my girlfriend doesn't have the patience and reverts back to smoking analogs.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I'd start with a fresh coil, and give everything, including the new coil, a good rinse/cleaning. There may be some factory oil/solvent/etc. hanging around. Also make sure you are allowing enough time for the wicks to get saturated. Set the tank aside for 10 minutes after filling before you vape.

If you still have the original Protank, give that to the GF until you diagnose the problem.

My new PT2 knocked me on my .... when I first inhaled after putting it on my ZMax at the 8watts setting I normally use. Unbelievable pain in nose/sinus areas and throat. I didn't even notice the burnt taste until after the pain died down. I had to set it at 3.5 watts, I do not use the volt setting. I haven't done the math to determine the volts that was. I was using the 2.2 coil that came with it. Now it vapes quite nicely. (I just used an online calculator and that would put it at 2.77 volts. So...there ya go for what its worth.)

I replaced the 2.2 ohm head with 1.8 and kept the watts at 3.5 on the calculator and it says you would use 2.5 volts to maintain the 3.5 watts. Does any of this help you? I have no idea why I had to drop so low on watts on the ZMax but I did. I still set it at 8 watts for the other clearos that use 2.2 ohm heads. I am confused but am able to vape the PT2 this way.

I've also found that with the new Kanger T3s coils, I am using lower voltages and therefore, a lower wattage. Improves the vape considerably.

Thank you for the response. I have been doing all these steps and the issue comes back up in a day or two. I gave her the PT 1 for now, but after the burning, she is hesitant but trying to get back on it. I don't blame her. The feeling of burning plastic is not one you like to get unexpectedly greeted with while smoking an e cig. We have been using pro tank 1s forever and we have had the protank 2 for a few weeks now, but soon after getting it started with the issues. I will trouble shot again and post my results. Perhaps within the given amount of time someone will respond who has dealt with the same problem and already trouble shot it.

Once again, thank you very much for you help and suggestion!
