I'm planning a VV box mod, and after a few youtube videos, I think I have it figured out... except the LED... Do I need a resistor for it? if yes, do I wire it across the + & -? Or on the + wire?
Here is my plans... do y'all see any issues?

I'm no expert on the things but the reason i think you use a resistor is to limit the current fluctuation from a battery that naturally occurs as it discharges. I have a box-mod from madvapes and it has a resistor soldered to one leg of the LED thus.

Hope this helps :)

I don't know if it might be an issue, running the led from the output of the voltage control board, as its output will vary.
I may be wrong; I've never built a VV before.
I'd probably run it from the switch itself (through a resistor, as Dougiestyle correctly mentioned).
Here is my revised schematic, with the corrections highlighted in green on your original (left) and revised on the right.

Edited "through an LED" to "through a resistor" which is what I meant to write! Sorry!

To correct a bit of mis-information, that is not the reason for a resistor with an LED. All LED's need a resistor, or they will take in all the electricity they can and self-distruct. Sort of like a dog that inhales all the food they can.

If I wanted to also make it a bottom feeder, all I would need to do is not completely fill the hole in the 510 and run the tube up there? and of course use an atty instead of cart???
You've got it, bud!

By the time I'm done it'll prolly end up being a VV Bottom Feeding Box mod with a voltmeter & passthru....lol
Hope you let us see it when you're finished; good luck! ;)

Just build as in your first diagram keeping the LED were you had it. You just need to add a resistor to either leg. The higher the value, the dimmer the LED. In that position you'll know if you are getting current to the atty... a good thing.

Do opt for larger batteries though. Once you hone your chops you can build your pretty, dream mod next.

I think I will run it after the volt board and near the 510 connector. I like the idea of knowing if I have power up there. As for my dream mod... that's gunna be awhile. I gotta tinker with a few crappy ones and figure out what I really want before I go whole hog... we'll see.
As far as batteries.... is it necessary to move up to 18500's in this? I have plenty of room if I use this box... but dang! I'll have to order even more stuff... lol... bummer!
