Its not necessary but as you progress and get more confident its definitely something you want to do. Either make them not touching but perfectly spaced, or squeezed together so theyre all uniform and touching.

yeah what mota just said. hey mota i'm pretty good at making them all touch evenly except for the last wrap on the RM2 because of the way it angles over to the post hole. do you have that problem? or do yours all evenly touch? any tips?

Youll always have it angle a bit unless both coil ends are even with the posts. You could try and make the angle a little sharper with some tweezers. Instead of it pulling off the coil, make it a sharp angle at the end of the coil wrap. Ill try and find some pics

I think I liked the first video of the wrapping better. It seemed like it would be easier on the Reo just because it's more open. However, I'm taking advantage of the offer from samcm010 to send me the Trident clone. Question, though...will that work on my MVP?

Yes, just keep your coil ohms above 1.0 ;)

What is it that affects the ohms? The number of times you wrap it?

Yes and the gauge of wire you use. For instance, I like my coils in my protank on my MVP from 1.1 to 1.4. With 28 gauge it takes 8-10 wraps, with 29 gauge it takes 7-9, with 30 gauge it takes 5-7 and so on. With 27 gauge wire the coil would be too big to fit in the PT head.

that makes sense...I'll give that a shot next time i recoil :) thanks mota!

ncolwell - in terms of how easy it is, PT vs REO coil building, night and day my friend. frustration which leads to success vs straight up success :)

Not the best example but something like this

Mota, that looks awesome! I have a feeling my husband is going to see what I'm doing and be SO jealous. I'm probably going to have to get him a new RBA just so he can keep up with me. I've been leading this whole vaping thing for us both. He's using an iClear 30 now, along with a SmokTech HBC tank for his cinnamon juice. He's gonna love it. I can see it now.

Question with the Trident Clone. Two, actually.

1. The others clipped the cotton short, but for this one he has the cotton wrapping around the top. Is that necessary, or is there a benefit to this?

2. With building my own coils and using cotton, will I need to purchase 6mg juice from now on? Or is that more when you start using a Reo?

In a ProTank probably not. But in a RDA/REO, definitely

EDIT- that was in reference to question #2

Try it and see for both. Everyone is different in their preferences. :D

Watching Rip Trippers wrap a coil for a Trident clone now. He's got it coming in at 1.8 with 13 wraps.

It's all coming together! My fear is diminishing. :)

Take note of the drill bit size hes using because that makes a difference. 1.8 is fine but you might want to go lower on the Trident.

Definitely not in a Protank, i didn't need to lower nic until i got a REO (same for any RDA i'm sure, just drippers = nicotine delivery behemoths). i'm still vaping 18mg in the REO but, i'm a) a lunatic and b) i smoked over a pack of bugler tobacco a day, so to say I have a huge nicotine tolerance is an understatement
edit - to be clear though it IS too much lol I'll be ordering 6 and/or 12 from now on
