Hi there

I heard about this great and I would like to share my problems with you and hopefully you can help me to quit smoking

I am 28 years old and I am smoking since the age of 15 :( The average per day is around 24 cigarettes.
I can't quit smoking really, I think about smoking all the time, kind of relating everything with a cigarette , when hanging out with my friends when going for a trip while driving while drinking coffee at the morning, in other way I want to quit but I like to smoke!! Its complicated.

I heard about this forum and I want to ask if the E-cigarette would help to quit based on my situation that I shared with you.

I am living in Mississippi at the north near to memphis, is there any place I can go to buy ? If so could you please let me know what is the best E-cig, I don't want it very expensive and I don't ant it cheap and bad. I want the full collection that I would use for 1 month, I heard that there are many parts like liquids, kit, battery and things I need to buy.

1 more thing, I am smoking Marlboro lights, wonder if there a flavor that is smiliar :>

I am sorry for writing too much but I just wanna talk about everything I feel and wonder about.

Thanks a lot and your help is really appreciated.

Nat

I know what you mean- I started young, too, and I always felt that I no longer had any idea what it was like to be a non-smoker... I can be hard to get past.

I don't know Mississippi that well, but most of us order our stuff online (AFAIK). A 510 kit with a PCC would probably do you right. The price is good, it's "cigarette like", and the flavor is nice. Get a 30 ml of "juice" and you should be good for at least a few weeks. Don't get too caught up on wanting that cigarette flavor, as nothing will be quite the same, but you'll be disgusted by the smell and taste of the stinkies before you know it.

Check out Liberty Flights- it's one of the favorites to order from around here, and the prices are very reasonable.

Welcome Nat. I can sure relate to what you're saying about cigarettes. I was nearly (or was) compulsive about smoking. By the time I found e-cigs I had smoked for 28+ yrs and was smoking at least 1.5-2 pks a day. My entire day and life revolved around when I could have my next cigarette, how many I had left, and how much time I had to smoke. In my opinion, e-cigs are a miracle. At this point, they have completely replaced the cigarettes and I feel sooo much better.

You said you want the best e-cig. Well, everyone will chime in with their own opinion of what that is. Each of us has different needs based on our smoking habits and what we are comfortable switching to. But, with the amount you are smoking, I would suggest not getting any kind of kit with a small battery life. Most have a tendency to vape more than they smoked at first, I would think you would need a minimum of a eGo, Riva, or something similar.

Have you checked out MistressNomad's, " I made videos for newbies..." in the New Members Forum? If not, it's a good idea so you can let us know a little more about what you are interested in. Also check out some other Stickies while you're at it. Otherwise, we are going to be throwing a ton of different info and advice your way that may not be useful to your needs.

For the record, I use an eGO, but started on a 510. It didn't take me long to decide I needed more battery life, but I also didn't have a PCC. I just know that many beginners REALLY have a hard time getting over the "cigarette like" models... for a little while, anyway. :)

So true:) I started with a KR8 model. I think half of what convinced me it could work was looking in the mirror and seeing that little red tip, "smoke" coming out of my mouth, and being able to hold it between my fingers. But, if someone who smokes heavily is concerned about start up costs and being able to quit right away, it's a toss up whether a the look-a-likes will help them. The smaller batteries are usually only a stepping stone for them.

Welcome to ecf! You've already been given some excellent advice here. I really had no intention of quitting smoking when I ordered my first ecig. Like you, I started smoking at a very young age and continued to do so for 40 years. Being a smoker literally becomes a part of who you are! Although I tried several methods of quitting, there was just no way I was ever going to be successful!

In addition to being a smoker, I am also a bit of a geek and therefore a gadget freak. When I heard about electronic cigarettes, I just had to have one. I ordered it kind of as a novelty item. I was totally shocked when I received it that I could immediately go from smoking 2 packs a day down to 2 packs a week without even making a concerted effort to quit smoking! At that time I decided it was time to actually try weaning myself down even further. In no time at all I was down to a couple of cigarettes a day.

Legally, the manufacturers can't advertise ecigs as quit smoking devices. FDA regulations prevent that. But my experience has been that they are the only truly effective way for a dedicated smoker to quit.

You guys are just AWESOME .. I really don't know how to thank you :))

Based on your advices I think I would go for eGO, actually I was watching some reviews and videos on youtube and there were some annoying ideas about a cheap Chinese liquid that contains antifreeze or something like that, I want to avoid buying that liquid or anything related to , do u have an idea about how to choose a good quality liquid ? I read about antifreeze thing its so scary

They don't actually contain antifreeze. PV is an ingredient in antifreeze though, and it is used because it's LESS toxic than the alternative.

Everyone has their favorite vendors. Personally, I like FSUSA and Tasty Vapor.... although I admit I haven't had too many more than those. Take a look through the vendor forums on this site, and you can read plenty of reviews. :)

Welcome and glad to have you here
There are many things to learn, to help you on your quest
There is no perfect XYZ model, and there are many brands to choose from.

My only thought to you, is keep you mind open to NOT getting the models
that "look like" a real cigarette/analog.

Battery life will become VERY important to you in your overall experience.

Buy juice from several different vendors (each are different) and buy small bottles at first.
Your taste buds will change several times after getting off the analogs.

So, read, watch YouTube videos (several there on every model available), read some more
ask questions as needed, and start enjoying the vaping world.

Once you enter, you probably won't leave.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I just checked and Liberty Flights restocked the eGo kits--they are only $40. They also have the Riva (basically the same thing) for $30. That's probably one the best deals you can find right now.

Yes...Liberty-Flights seems to have the best deals around for both the eGo and the Riva....I have both from them and love them. They have super cheap shipping ($2.99) as well, and fast service. I'm a fan of LF for sure. My favorite juice vendors are VaporBomb.com and USA Made Vapor Renu, although vaporrenu only sells in 30ml quantities, so you may want go get some smaller sample bottles of juice (5ml) while you're deciding what you like. Good luck. These things really WORK....it's still amazing to me. I quit smoking 5 months ago after having smoked for 40+ years and NEVER thinking I could quit. I had resigned myself to the fact that I'd probably die from smoking, but that it'd have to be because I could never quit. Now, I'm living in a healthier, way more fun new world of vaping and I couldn't be happier (or more proud of myself!)

It's almost if OP was written by myself. I am from NE Mississippi and have been smoking since age 15, I am now 27. There is nothing you can get here locally that is worth paying for. Some gas stations (very rare) have the 801 styles but they are complete crap, a co-worker of mine bought one. When I started researching, I wanted something that would last me up to 2 days away from a power source, so I leaned towards something with a PCC (Personal Charging Case?). After about a week I went with the $80 Magma starter kit from volcanoecigs. The only problem I had was the auto batteries, they just don't hit like the manual ones do and sometimes I had to suck so hard to get it to turn on that I got liquid in my mouth. I ordered 2 manual batteries and loved them. You can get the same kit from madvapes cheaper with manual batteries and it comes with a spare atomizer.

After the purchase, the modding started. Currently I am using the same cartridge every day modded with a small piece of a paper clip horizontal about 1/4 from the top wedged in there with a small piece of blue foam at the top. My cart holds between 15-20 drops. Even though my carts last quite a while, I'm hard to satisfy. I am now working on building my own PV juice fed box, just still waiting on my batteries to get here.

I have found no liquids that taste like a marlboro light, or any cig for that matter. I have found a few that remind me of an expensive cigar, but thats about it. Halocig's Freedom Juice and BellaVente remind me of a cigar. I have a feeling that once you start vaping, you probably won't want a cigarette flavor.

howdy...welcome....i used to live in Hernando, MS (Desoto County). i highly recommend the eGo-i am very satisfied with it-i alternate between two batteries (the stock 650mah and a 900mah), and always use a mega cylindrical eGo cartridge and mega eGo mega atomizer, or mega eGo cartomizer. my favorite suppliers are Breezesmokes (just a 20 min drive from me), litecigusa, liberty flights and nhaler. my favorite ejuices come from Breezesmokes (their cinnamon pear is awesome), Vapor Bomb (Fire & Ice, Cinnabomb)

Hi and welcome to ECF. There are very few brick 'n mortar e-cig stores around. Those of us who have one close are lucky individuals. You can try looking here VaporSearchUSA and you may find something.
I had a similar story to yours. Started at 17 and thought I could never quit, I'm 49 now. Since I got my first e-cig I've smoked exactly 3 cig's. I haven't had one since July, so it can work.

Started at 14, smoked for 40 years, quit with an eGo...not even intending to, but the first hit made me think that I could do it. You've gotten really good advice, but everyone starts at a different place. The eGo comes with 5 prefilled cartridges of generic Marlboro juice that my brother (a Marlboro smoker) says is decent. Frankly, as a Kool smoker, I thought it tasted like crap, but it still made me realize that a PV would work. The eGo is a good product at a great price. It is the current workhorse standard of PVs.

Hello Iwantoquit and Welcome to ECF. Personally my Wife I started with 510 kits and there are great. However, I soon found that the battery life on the 510 for me was to short and now am the proud owner of a EM-Riva. I have to say the battery life on these are great and on battery lasts me anywhere from 6-8 hours (I am a moderate to heavy vapor according to my wife).

In my opinion you will need something with a good battery life yet not overly expensive so I would say an Ego/Riva would be a good choice. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

Almost forgot. If you are near a computer a lot you may want to consider a PT as well.

Go into this with the idea that you're not quitting the stink sticks.....just supplementing them. That worked for me. As I used the ecig more and more, I "forgot" about smoking. Once I had the right ejuice and the right device, I saw no need to buy cigs anymore.

I did spend a good bit of money in the transition because it took awhile to find the right device and juice....but it's easy to justify the cost when you're not buying $5/pack stink sticks. After two months, I'm at about the break-even point.

The eGo kit is a great starter setup. I've started a few folks with it and they like it. I recommend using it with cartomizers. It's simple, easy and you get good hits. Probably the toughest thing you'll face is finding the right juice, one that you truly love. Once you find the right juice, giving up the analogs is easy. For me it was Backwoods Brew maple tobacco, it was the magic juice. Love the taste, nice tobacco flavor and lots of vapor.

Everyone has their own opinion on what makes an e-cig "good". When I first started (like most people) I was enamored with the style of e-cigs that looked like real cigarettes for a number of reasons. After about a month of vaping on my mini, I decided to step up. Most people who are new go through this exact same evolution. What I've come to find is that your priorities shift from looking a certain way to performing a certain way. If I could do it over again, I would have started with an eGo right off the bat (for a number of reasons).

There are also a number of sites online that can provide very useful information for people new to e-cigs that will help you get more out of it. These forums here are great, but can be a bit overwhelming at times (at least thats what I found). Take a look at our site, eCigology - The Science of E-Cigs for some easy to apply tips, tricks and reviews to get you started.

Also, google around a bit and see what is out there. The more you know, the higher your chances for success are! Good luck!

started smoking at 16 and smoked over a pack a day of camel wide full flavors until about a month ago and havnt looked back. I live in Central New York and it wasnt until yesterday hen i saw a display in a gas station for some cheapo e-cig. your best bet is to research online and buy an e-cig from a company you find a lot of good reviews on. I'll tell you what, in my case anyway, I am addicted to everything about vaping i just love it. I'm new to the forum and a little over a month into vaping. Ive already bought 2 different units. Both from MV the 902 and the LUX and can say I'm looking forward to taking more steps further into it. I've got ssatty's, i've modded carts (lipton pyramid teabag is my fav), and done so much research i thought my head as gonna spin. Dont get too worked up in your first purchase cuz if your anything like me it def wont be your last. The only little advice i might give you is check out the abbreviation thread itll help you with a lot of them that ou see in the e-cig world and have fun, yes it's still nicotine but it's sooo much healthier and if there's something out there to be addicted to vaping isn't a bad one. I've plunged headfirst. Can't wait to buy my first BB Mod.

Happy Vaping!!!!!
