I use the vv/vw eVic and I recently got an Aspire clearomizer tank that uses either a BDC or BVC. When I got the tank it had a BVC and I used a fruity 30/70 ejuice with 18mg nicotine. I believe I had the eVic set at around 7.0-8.0vv. I had the best vape experience ever. Great clouds of vapor, great flavor, and no burning taste. After three weeks I needed more BVC's and ejuice and asked the store for replacements and received 5 more Aspire coils along with 30/70 fruity ejuice but with 24mg nicotine. When I put the new coil in I had a completely different experience. The taste was harsh, something like a burning taste but more like a gross nicotine taste. Also I wasn't getting large vapor clouds and it was spitting ejuice into my mouth. After researching online I realized I received the BDC coils instead of the BVC coil that came with the Aspire tank. I bought some BVC coils online and have had hit or miss vaping ever since. I have attempted to set both the vv and vw at different settings to no avail. Am I frying the coils? Am I vaping too quickly or too slowly? I am completely baffled how people on YouTube with eVics get large clouds. But mostly the taste is unpleasant. I have to drink water afterwards. Any advanced help is appreciated!

Welcome :)

What sort of EVIC do you have? The first model wasn't exactly a high power mod, so you shouldn't be having any trouble using Aspire BVC coils on it, from a 'frying the coil' perspective.

There is an EVIC in my kitchen with a mini Nautilus on top....it's turned up on full power all the time. Setting it to 'only' 7 or 8 watts is going to be a weak vape i.m.o.

Needing to drink lots of water is normal; I was madly thirsty for the first few months.

8V through a BVC is probably burning your heads. What ohm BVC's did you get? It says in small print on the head itself, it should also be marked on the box that the blister pack came in.

(Also your eVic probably reads ohms, lol I'm dumb.)

That's why I asked which EVIC. The first model (original) only goes to 5v.(or is it 5.5v?) ... I go and check.

Sorry, forgot the ohms. Both the BDC and BVC coils are/were 1.8ohms. OK I swore it went higher than 5.0v but I just checked and 5v is the limit. This can't be right. When I was at the store he even set it to 7v. I swear I'm not crazy. I think something is wrong with the electronics part. 11w is the highest.
Djsvapour: I was trying to say that with the BDC coils I had to drink water immediately after a vape because of the harshness not because I need to stay hydrated. Also I was having to use a paper towel to wipe the ejuice from my mouth after using the BDC coils.
Also, I have had this eVic for 4 years I guess. But I just started vaping again after a year and a half.
OK I've been vaping while typing this at 5v/11w and the vape cloud is decent after 3.4seconds it seems I average about 3.4 seconds. 3.8sec just gave me a big cloud. I guess I was trying to vape at 5-7 watts accidentally.
Any recommendations on a different unit? I still think the volts went higher than 5.0v. I will keep vaping and update this if the volts go higher again.
The store had these rectangular battery / mod units that I had never seen. Have you guys ever used one? They were expensive. Thanks guys for all your help!

I don't know what to advise. I use box mods these days (rectangular battery / mod units) and they are great.

The worry is, upgrading to a more powerful mod isn't necessarily going to help if you are not having a good time vaping on a older type of e-cig mod.

I would say that the the EVIC shouldn't be burning your coils, no. BUT, it's also not going to make instant clouds with a Nautilus. The Nautilus BVC has a big coil that takes a few seconds to get going. It should be good to 14, 15 watts, maybe.

It's a complicated business. I use a Kanger Subtank with a 1.2ohm coil because the vape is quicker and denser faster than BVC. I would fire my e-cig for up to 5 seconds with a Nautilus, now it's more like 2 or 3 seconds. I just prefer the instant vape, I guess. :)
