Hi

I have a pioneer4you Ipv4 and I use a pair of 25r and a pair of HE2 with it.The charger I have is a Nitecore D4.I rarely use the Ipv4 and I have it for 6 months so no extended use of these batteries has taken place. In both pairs every time I charge them one is ok and the other starts charging from 0,7 volts to 1,2 volts while the other charges normally from 3,6 to 4,2.I also use a pair of VTC5 and a pair of Panasonic with my Innokin VTR for like 3 years now and they still charge smoothly with the same charger. Moreover the two faulty batteries are both recognized by the charger as NiMH while they are Li-ion.The remaining six are all recognized correctly. What can be the problem?Any help is appreciated...

I don't know if I understand what you're asking but Ill try to answer.

Sounds like your IPV4 is unequally discharging batteries which would explain why one battery is far lower in voltage than the other.
Need to make sure the battery contacts inside the IPV are clean & making proper contact, probably a good idea to open it up & check the solder points & wiring.
I would not use the IPV for vaping or put new batteries in it until it is checked / repaired and you have determined they are discharging equally.

Any IMR/hybrid battery that gets discharged below 2.5ish volts is being damaged, if it occurs a few times the battery can be ruined. The two that have been discharged to .7v ~ 1.2v are most likely done for.

Of course those two batteries could have been fake/counterfeit or re wrapped used or re wrapped & erroneously labeled to begin with.

I also question that the batteries are not genuine, since the charger senses that they are a NiMH instead of Li-Ion. It is not all that unusual in this day and age for counterfeited, re-wrapped batteries to be sold unknowingly to consumers. This is why we always stress to only buy authentic batteries from reputable, trusted vendors.

so you have one 25r which charges up to 1.2 volts and one HE2 which also charges up to 1.2 volts?

sounds like you have a couple NiMH batteries; you shouldn't use them .

The thing is that in the beginning it would identify them as Li-Ion.Only after some uses with the mod the problems started and the misidentification.

If the batteries have been discharged down to .7v ~ 1.2v a few times they are ruined.
Why your charger recognizes them as nimh may be due to them being ruined / no good / damaged by severely over discharging or there is a chance they are counterfeit/low quality/re wrapped fakes.

The IMR/ hybrid batteries we use shouldn’t be discharged below 2.5v, most folks never let them go below 3.2v ~ 3.5v.

You need to figure out why one of the two battery’s is being severely over discharged when used in your IPV. They should discharge at a fairly equal rate.

Thanks for all the replies.
After some research I decided to remove the charding board in my Ipv4.Seems that the uneven discharging is quite common problem.
Of the two faulty batteries one (HE2) is now charging up to 4.2 Volts and is recognised as Li-ion.Should I keep it and use it or recycle it with the other?

PS:All my batteries are bought from Fasttech as genuine and for the specific ones there have been no negative reviews by other buyers for being fake.
