Please take a look at this recipe ... Do the added Vanilla and EM amounts look ok to you?

'Cohiba Habana Cigar' e-liquid . .. . 30 ml . . . . 50% PG / 50% VG . . . 18mg Nic

15.0 ml . . n . . 50 % . . . . . Unflavored Glycerin . . . . . . . . . . . . . VG

. 9.0 ml . . n . . 30 % . . . . . Unflavored PG Nicotine - (60mg) . m . PG

... .3 ml . . . . . . 1 % . . . n . Cotton Candy (EM) Flavoring . . n . . . PG

Above is a recipe for 30 ml of a 50 / 50 cigar tobacco flavored juice that is 18mg Nic ... The flavorings in the recipe above add up to 20% of the total amount of completed e-juice.

I have made this before using 20% tobacco flavorings, but not with the added vanilla flavoring as shown above.

From previous experience with this juice, I have found that adding 1% cotton candy (EM) seems to be about right without ruining the juice. Smoothes out the flavor nicely.

My question is the vanilla ... I have not used vanilla before, but I have heard that it can be a little overpowering. I want just a slight background taste and smell of vanilla, but I don't want to have it just take over the flavor and aroma of the cigar tobacco juice either.

Do you think adding 3% vanilla to the total amount of completed e-juice might be about right (without making it where all you smell is vanilla)?

Thanks,
Ron

Looks good but maybe start with 1.5 - 2% vanilla if your unsure of the taste. Make a 10ml test sample first before making a full 30ml. If it's no good your not wasting much.

I dont see an issue with 3% vanilla bourbon, depending on the concentrates. If its TFA, sure, that looks good. If you're using Inawera or FA, I'd say you're way too high on percentages.

I still have not purchased the Vanilla Bourbon flavoring, but I was leaning more towards the FlavourArt just by some of the reviews I have read here and there.

You know, I just don't want to make juice like some of the various RY4 that I have tried. Some have such a pronounced caramel and/or maple flavor to them, it's hard to tell where the tobacco is.

Funny thing ... I was at a bar once vaping on some ready-made tobacco flavored juice I bought somewhere (I think it was called "Sweet and Mild") ... Somebody I didn't even know says ... "Hey, it smells like were at the International House of Pancakes here" !

I think whoever I bought that juice from should have named it: "Pancakes and Maple Syrup"

Anyway, I am thinking just a little vanilla added to this Cigar Tobacco style juice might be nice, as long as it's not overwhelming.

Here is another thought .... Someone in another thread was talking about vaping Hookah 'molasses'.

Do any of the flavoring manufacturers that we normally buy from make a Molasses flavoring made for e-liquid use?

If so, anyone here ever try it? ... What did you think?

I just wonder if a little was added to tobacco / cigar flavored e-cig liquid if it might make for a nice added note to it?

I would decrease the bourbon to 1% and not use any EM, at least for the first mix. If you end up thinking you need EM for the 2nd mix, try .5% first. As far as molasses, I've never tried it. What exactly is the Cohiba missing on it's own that's driving your need for experimentation? Other tobacco additives to keep in mind/experiment with -

Nuts - peanut, almond, walnut, hazelnut, AP
Coconut
Banana
Cinnamon roll (try it, it's great)
Hints of cocoa/chocolate
Tobacco absolute/home-made extract
.5% TFA Raisin
Cookie/Cake/Graham/Gingerbread
Creams
Honey
Coffee
Rum
Cherry (difficult to pull off)
Peach
Blueberry

Aheadatime ... This Cohiba juice I has made is really nice. In fact I vape it on a daily basis. I think I have about 250 ml of it left.

I was just thinking that it might benefit from a little vanilla ... just a hunch.

I did try adding some raison to the mix once ... no good!

I can tell you this ... for someone that is looking for a real cigar smell to there vape, the very best I have found is RTS Vapes - Chinese Tobacco Blend brand called "Cohiba Cigar". I have no idea where RTS Vapes buys this flavoring from (and there not telling), but it's the only flavoring that I have ever tried that actually smells like a real cigar .... Great stuff!

There sold out now, but Randy said he just ordered more of it.

Take a look at the inawera flavors they make a shista line which is like hookah flavors for e-cig. I haven't tried them myself but others have said good things about them. There may be a flavor there on the same lines as molasses. Jimi D can likely help you there he hangs in the "Inawera review" thread.

As far as adding a tobacco note I would not be to quick to rush into it as there are many different choices in tobaccos. If you just want to inhance the tobacco taste that's already there try a tobacco absolute.

http://www.wingedseed.com/15322/TOBACCO+ABSOLUTE.html

This particular rustica TA is more suited for a cigar or pipe mix as it is a little sweeter and earthier then the ashy "Virginia" TA.

Or

I would start by getting a few tobaccos and trying them on there own then make a choice as to which best suits your taste or the taste your trying to find to best enhance the mix then try that one as a note.

Some good choices in tobacco flavorings are:

Hangsen
inawera
flavorart

Seedmans also makes some good tobacco enhancers

You may also consider adding a chocolate to the mix. Not enough to give it a chocolate taste but just as a note. I find it does wonders for tobacco. I add it to quite a bit of my tobacco mixes. I use the sweeter, creamer chocolates myself. Most recently I'm using this at 3 - 4% in some of my tobacco mixes. Start at 2% and work up. This takes a good 3 week steep for the chocolate notes to come out. And like all other flavors try it on it's own first.

TFA makes Molasses flavoring. I've tried it and it's not like real molasses. To me it was very similar to Brown Sugar Extra with maybe another X. And to add just another possible- TFA Toasted Marshmallow. It's got some sweetness, some vanilla, and that nice toasted flavor might go well with cigar. Or it might be crap. I'd start at 2% and not add any other vanilla or EM to start with.
