This is for new people and even some of the not so new.

The classifieds are great on this forum and can save you money, but there are prices that you may want to pay attention to before you make a impulse buy.
Sometimes things are listed at a higher price than what its worth the reason could be because the person selling wants to make extra money or they just think its worth that price , it may be out of stock or you may just not know where to get it. , so please do your research and ask questions, even send me a pm and I will help you.

I'm personally of mixed feelings about this. There are a few factors people seem to forget - like shipping, sales taxes (where applicable), and PP fees. I'm not sure if you are talking about any specific thing in the classifieds or the common practice of some people getting an item and selling it for quite a bit more than they paid for it. If the seller is covering PP fees and shipping, plus paid for shipping and maybe even sales taxes to receive the item to begin with, then their costs might be higher than you've allowed for.

And, some items really are rare or collectible so can fairly command an inflated price. For instance (I'm not planning on doing this, but if I was I could),---> I got a VV REO Woodville. There was a lot of demand for these, and just judging by the pressure on REOs webhost plus the fact they sold out in about 2 hours, I doubt that everyone who wanted one was able to get one. Over the next few days, there will be many, many posts singing the praises of this device. The VV Grands won't be out for at least another 5 weeks, so let's say I decide to sell my VV Woodville (Again, I'm not actually planning on it. This is just for the purpose of discussion). What's a fair price? I paid $212.05 for it shipped. I also had to change my schedule a bit and take a couple of hours off work to wait around to sign for the package, so I could sure think a couple of hours wages are part of the deal. Would listing it at $230 shipped be somehow unfair? $250? $275? (I do think I could get that much) At what point above what I actually paid do I become a profiteer or a jerk for selling it?

But then, I have seen a few times that people will snap up as many of a limited stock item as they can get knowing that there is limited stock and as soon as the vendors are sold out and people are singing the praises of that item on the forums, they'll sell what they bought for as much as double plus shipping. - I'm still of mixed feelings about that, but it does seem to be pretty obvious profiteering. If someone buys it - did they want it bad enough to pay double? Or were they just uninformed? Tough to say.

Excellent points!

Supply and demand! This goes far beyond e-cig related goods and has been a practice for quite a while. While maybe considered "unethical" if somebody is willing to pay the extra, for whatever reason, somebody will always be willing to ask for the extra.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I understand how the market works, and I also see the situation to which you are referring. What I am talking about are the items that are readily available, and in good supply. I am looking at purchasing a Lavatube, for nothing else to give VV vaping a try. I am also a person that likes to find deals. I rarely purchase anything (vaping-wise or not) at full retail, and will search till I'm blue in the face to find the best deal. Even when I do find a great deal I second guess myself the whole time. For a person like me the best option (in my head) is to purchase something somewhat used, which usually translates to a significant discount, ie my car reference. Upon looking for a used Lavatube, I found that the going rate on the classifieds are sigificantly higher than from a vendor, and most didn't even cover shipping. That is where I have issue. If we're talking about the market for USED Lavatubes, then yes, there is greater demand than supply, however, then new price is usually lower than the used. That's all I was talking about. Why would I pay $80 + shipping for a used device without batteries when I can purchase same with a complete kit for $20 less shipped AND get warranty support? Most of the vendors are selling the complete kit for between $59 and $69, yet everytime I look in the classifieds I see them for $80-$100 (I'm not referring to the SS ones, either, those command a premium for being rare).

I guess my point is that I want EVERYONE to have a great experience when it comes to vaping, and anything you do to stay away from analogues is a plus. I just don't understand the pricing scheme on some of the classified items. If I were to put something on the classifieds, I would do so knowing that I am putting up a used item that I have removed some value from simply by using it. I therefore would not expect to recoup even a large portion of what I paid unless it was sealed in the box and never touched (even then I would expect a depreciation of some sort). Specialized items are a different story, but if the market will stand for it, then so be it. I will purchase new.

A used product is used and isn't worth more than a new product, until some ..... pays the higher price. Then it's a third hand product & worth less than a second hand until some ..... pays the higher price. If some of the ...... wouldn't pay the higher prices, then we wouldn't have the problem.

It's just an ecig, nothing more, until some ..... makes it more.

If supply & demand truly applied, then vendors would continuously raise the retail prices until they had stock. If they did that we would call them money grubbing pigs.

Quit trying to justify the price gouging in the classifieds. It's disgusting. :2c:

I for one was not justifying the hike in prices for used (or new) goods, in this case PVs and the like. Nor is that a practice of mine. Merely stating a fact that it happens frequently and until (as you stated) idiots stop giving in to greed, it will continue.

And, quickly, off topic..Love your avatar jlinko!
