So I decided to quit smoking after a friend of mine quit after buying an ecig. I've been wanting to quit for a few months now but quitting with an ecig just never crossed my mind until he mentioned it. I've heard of them just a few times in the past and have never seen anyone using one. So basically I came at this knowing nothing about them.

Unfortunately my friend got one of those cheap 7-11 style ecigs so he wasn't able to give me really any information about ecigs. So I spent a few nights reading on a couple of forums and watching a TON of Youtube videos. I heard a lot of good things about the Ego-t so I made my first purchase on Liberty Flights. My first order included three Ego-t 1000 mah batteries, three Ego-t atty's, a 5 pack of cartridges, USB and wall charger, and a carrying case. I didn't get the starter kit because it only had 650 mah batteries. I also picked up some Cola, Luxury Blend, RY4, Cappuccino, and Hotel juice.

I received the package in the mail this past Monday. At first, the Ego-t was wrecking my throat. My mistake was that I wasn't realizing I was getting dry hits. I figured if there was vapor, then there must be juice in the tank. After a day, I realized I was actually running out of juice in the tank and that's why I was getting a really sore throat. Besides this issue, I was pretty happy the first couple of days. But by day three I was really disappointed. I was just not getting the throat hit that I crave. I like the idea of the Ego-t, which is why I picked it up as my first device. I don't want to be out and about carrying a man's purse full of cleaning rags and ecig accessories.

I've tried everything I could find to make the Ego-t better. Now mind you, I have no prior experience with ecigs, so I didn't have a reference for how an ecig is supposed to work. So I've made sure the wick is at the right level, removed the two juice guards or whatever they are from the tip of the cartridge mouthpiece and put the top one back in but recessed a 1/4 of an inch or so down into the mouthpiece, and made sure the sides of the cartridge line up with the two air holes at the bottom of the atty. Some of this is just voodoo but I really wanted to make sure I'm getting the most of the Ego-t. I now get an okay amount of vapor whereas before it was just barely producing any vapor. At least no where near the amount of vapor I've seen in some of these Youtube videos. But I still don't have the throat hit I need. I figured that that's basically because I'm using a 3.7v device and really doesn't have anything to do with the Ego-t.

So I made my second order at Liberty Flights and purchased a 510 LR atty with a metal drip tip. I should get this today in the mail. So this should replicate a 5v vaping experience and give me the throat hit I need.

The juices I ordered were okay. The RY4 was the best but I wasn't particularly impressed with any of them in order to deem one my all day vape. So over the weekend I ordered a ton of juice. I purchased Ms. T's Strawberry Lemonade. Backwoods Brew's Backo, Applewood Tobacco, and Cherry Tobacco. Vapor Talk's Dulcis. The House of Vapor's Original Reds and RY4. LiquidXpress's Honey Flue Cured Tobacco. And Vapor Station's Tampa. I should get these over the next week or so.

I'm not done though. I think I'm going to enjoy the 5v vaping with the 510 LR atty. The problem is these are around $30 bucks or so for a 5 pack and I've heard each one only last about a week or so. I'd like to use a regular 510 atty that lasts longer so I don't have to keep buying them all the time. But I would need a regular 5v or 6v device. I've been looking at the Omega, Silver Bullet, Prodigy v3.1, and the Provari. I'm thinking of going with the Provari because it's a variable voltage device that doesn't need the batteries taken out to switch from 3.7v to 6v and can also do 5v or 4.9v if that's my sweet spot.

I still have a ton of learning to do, and cheers if you read all of this, lol.

TL;DR I bought an Ego-t and the throat hit wasn't enough for me so I picked up a 510 LR atty, bought a bunch of juice, and I'm already looking at a mod.

If you get a mod, definitely get a Variable Voltage Mod. It is amazing how different a juice can be at different voltages. I find that the same juice might be bland at 3.3v, burnt at 4.8v but awesome at 4.4v. It varies from juice to juice and atomizer to atomizer. Variable Voltage lets you find the "sweet spot". Regular atomizers last longer than LR atomizers. I personally have an Infinity from Notcigs and couldn't be happier.

Higher PG than VG helps with throat hit. Also higher voltage, higher nic level help. I have been using menthol to get more TH. They also have additives that increase TH but I haven't used them.

Hope you find the mod you like. Till it arrives you can throw on a 306LR 1.5Ω for a better TH and heat.

If you want great flavor and throat hit, order a couple of 306 LR attys and drip tips. Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. has these in standard resistance or you can go to this link http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/where-can-i-get/140736-cheapest-cisco-lr-306-atomizer.html to read about sources for the LRs artys. You'll get clouds of vapor, full taste and flavor, and a compact unit with your Ego batts.

Alternatively, you can try the Ego-T LR atty and some Backwoods Brew Hunter's Blend. This is a favorite for throat hit and tobacco flavor. Backwoods Brew

I use 510 LR's exclusively and average around 2 months out of each atomizer. I've tried HV and didn't care for it so went back to my Silver Bullet @ 3.7v, although on a fresh charge it measures just under 4.2v. After vaping a single 18650 batt for 12 hours it's still over 3.7v.
Finding the "right" juice is the bane of vaping. With smoking you don't have all that many choices, and they all taste pretty close to the same, like burning tobacco. With e-juice there's hundred of flavors from numerous vendors and they all taste different. Finding that one juice that you're happy vaping all day takes time and money. It can be a frustrating experience.
There's also a learning curve to vaping, as you've found. At first there's all the fiddling with things trying to get everything working right. Then you fine tune the process and life get easier. All I can say is persevere, eventually it'll all come together.

I received my 510 LR atty a few hours ago and here are my first impressions.

The good:
The throat hit is better, still looking for a little more kick though.
A lot more vapor production.
Doesn't feel like I'm sucking through a clogged milk shake. Takes half the time for a drag.

The bad:
Juice is everywhere! I put three drops in and immediately have juice running down the sides. I should have purchased a cone to go with it.
If I use the drip tip, then sometimes I'll get juice in my mouth. If I take the drip tip out, add a few drops, and then put the drip tip back on, juice flies back up through the drip tip.
Did I mention juice is everywhere?

I just ordered some Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers, cones, and a 306 LR atty.
