the problem here is that you are using high nic with a high airflow cloud chasing coil. It's that simple. I vape 36mg in my MTL devices and never cough, and can't handle more than 6mg in the sort of coil you are using.

PS it' not because it's a sub ohm coil, it's because it's a direct to lung coil. I frequently use 36mg in a 0.15 sub ohm nickel coil in my nautilus (triton mini coils), and it's not harsh at all.

it is indeed also possible that the PG is bothering you.. although when i coughed my guts out in a high airflow coil, with 12mg, i was using 100% VG juice, 0 PG. I really feel the problem is that you need a nice restrictive MTL setup to use high nicotine.. for the one you have now, go with 6mg high VG juice.

PG adds throat hit, so does nicotine level. Go at least 80VG/20 PG if not all VG on sub ohm coils (below 1 ohm resistance.) the higher the wattage, the lower nic you want to go as well. These cloud chaser rigs vaporize more juice per puff, thus more nicotine, and more everything per puff. That's great but, it can be harsh.

I can vape 36mg, 100% PG no problem on an eGo type patter with 1.5 or better resistance coils - barely enough for me. Sun ohm, direct lung rigs, 12mg 80/20 is pushing it. Sub ohm, mouth to lung, 18mg 80/20 but, only three or four puffs every 30 mins. To do more I have to lower the nic to 6 or even 3 mg.

start off slow and easy... like a 1.2 ohm coil at 8-12W doing mouth to lung inhales... vaping is a whole different way to get your nic and yes... it takes time to adjust to the new type of "material" one is inhaling. Stay with the 24 nic and consider going to a higher VG and a lower PG ratio ( you want to reduce the throat hit)...
Most of us "older vapers" had success due to the fact we started with Ego's and Evods which were tiny weak sources of vape that didnt choke us to death... we were forced to learn to crawl before we bought the race car ;)

Dekang is going to be a very harsh vape even at lower strength (6mg/12mg).

It's high PG (harsh) and these flavors were designed a long time ago for very basic e-cigs.

Sub-ohm-ing Chinese juice with all sorts of unusual ingredients is not necessarily bad or dangerous, but the throat hit will be epic.

I ordered 20 bottles of 'old-style' juice (extremely cheap) by one of the top UK e-liquid vaping companies.
It's 50/50 and the flavors were formulated 5 years ago for basic hardware.
Boy.. this stuff kicks in modern equipment.... even 20w (9mg) is leaving me almost on the floor.

Dekang formulated some high VG/cloud/subohm liquid back in 2014 (or was it 2015) with the plan to sell it with 0mg, 1.5mg or 3.0mg to most customers. It was very nice. They sent me samples for review.

Sadly, about that time was when I discovered just how criminally (yes, criminally) motivated the e-cigarette review industry is. I could have reviewed the liquid (it really was such an improvement compared to the classic recipes) but I lost all confidence in the review industry. It is as fake as fake can be. Most people in it are in it for dubious selfish $$ reasons. I am bitter for all the newbies that get conned every day or every year by these crooks.

Original Dekang is best left for the old-tech kit. I would happily vape 24mg in a 5 watt device (cig-a-like or basic eGo pen) even today.
Dont paint all of us reviewers with the same broad brush.

A lot are in it for the bucks and freebies.

Some of us tell the truth.

My lungs were messed up!! when I quit smoking. Vaping would make me cough at every hit almost.

0.5 is a bit high.

24 is really high, especially sub ohming.
Your liquid is chinese and generally not the best quality...
0.5 ohms should be at 6mg or 9mg

1 ohm with a low power device is good for the higher nic stuff if thats still what you need.

hi, I joined about a month ago while waiting for my set of kangertech subvod c's to arrive in the mail. They were coming from fasttech and I opted for free shipping, so I pretty much waited for the full 20 days to get them.

So, my bf set his up right away, primed the .5 coil and *tried* to vape. Well, it hits waaay too hard for him and hurts his throat. He says it hurts the back of his throat and lungs and it instantly makes him cough. So this isn't the 'my throat is getting used to no cigs cough' it's the device causing the cough, we think(?)

We are using an ejuice by Dekang, 24mg nicotine, 75pg/25vg on a .5 coil.

Please help. I wanted to let my coil step first but I did try a hit from his, I took a very soft & slow pull and almost coughed myself. I have been so excited and almost obsessive thinking about becoming a vaper and quitting cigs. I really don't want to give up but my bf is almost already turned off to it. Any tips or advice on how to make this easier are greatly appreciated.

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on your excellent decision to make the switch from smoking to vaping!

I think you need to match up your juice with your mod. You are trying to use a high nicotine content juice, that is more suitable for mouth to lung vaping with a sub-ohm mod and atomizer.

Either change the juice you're using or change the mod/atty.

I think it's wise to use the mouth to lung style of vaping when making the switch from smoking to vaping. Mouth to lung vaping more closely mimics smoking than sub-ohm vaping.

Some people choose to move on to sub-ohm vaping, but many, like myself, do not. I've been vaping for more than two years and I am completely satisfied with mouth to lung vaping.

If you decide to switch your juice, try some that has only 6 mg. nicotine.

If you decide to switch your hardware, I recommend the Joyetech Ego One Mega Kit with the CLR 1.0 ohm coils.

Joyetech eGo ONE Mega V2 Kit

Joyetech CLR Coils (5 pack)

The only other thing you might need is a wall adaptor to use to charge the mod.

Aspire USB Wall Adapter

Good luck!

Just reading that made me cough! But I think others have provided that info.

I do hope when (not if, but when) you try and like a lower nic and PG juice you will stop back and let us know what worked for you. Good luck and :vapor: on!

What you're describing is called throat hit, and it can be avoided by using a lower concentration of nicotine. 24MG/ML is really high; I would recommend going for 12.
You could also try sub-ohm vaping, which gives you the benefit of being able to use Max VG juices, removing the irritation that PG causes.
Hope I helped :) VG and PG can be super easy to get mixed up if you aren't paying attention, so make sure you look out for that.

never tried dekang, is it really harsh on TH? I might need to try it. Still searching for the strongest TH possible.
I don't have much to compare it to, and tbh, my bf's tank has what looks like silt coming out of the coil, or it's just setting from the juice? But I actually do enjoy the flavors of what I got, which is just Marlboro, but it's quite pleasant. The flavors are pleasant, but if I don't hit the ecig really slow and soft I will cough my brains out.

That silt leaching from the coil is an indication that the coil is getting gunked up and needs a change

I owned a subvod a year ago & used 18mg at the start but then lowered it to 12. I can vape quite high nic levels when sub ohming though & just find I use it less but get a really good hit.
Like everyone has said though most people use 3mg- 6mg when sub ohming.
I think there is some higher resistance coils, 1.5 ones. That would work better with your 24mg liquid, good luck :) it's not a bad starter kit at all. If someone was asking for a cheap vape pen I'd recommend one of these.
