A while back I was all hot to get myself a Poldiac, but then someone said that you can't sub-ohm on a Poldiac because of some plastic part in it, or something like that. Well I vape at .7 ohm, and I'm settled firmly into that, so I gave up on the Poldiac. But gosh, it's such a great looking mech, and you can strip it down to the last part, and I'm a mech fanatic so I find myself looking at it again. I just ordered an hcigar Caravela, but I'm going to want more mechs... so.....

Is it really true you can't sub-ohm on it? Is there a part you can get that lets it sub-ohm? It's such a pretty thing I'd love to have one....

I been running .6-.8 on a poldi original plastic for years now. The new one is for seriously hot subohm as delrin cant take high temps for long

The euro is seriously week lately as of today thats 78 US.

They need to stop with the sales lol back when i got mine the euro was very strong and almost cost me 180, 78 bucks makes me feel ill lol

You can subohm on the authentic Poldi.

MMVapors released spare plastic parts made of Peek Ketron that they recommend for sub ohm setups long after they started selling the Poldiac. I have an authentic that I purchased before these were available so I cannot sub-ohm on mine (not that I care to). It looks like new units are sold with these Peek Ketron parts, but unfortunately it looks like they're out of stock currently for those who might want to upgrade to them for older versions.

I've got a.. actually 3 poldiac clones I'm sorry to say.
2 last two are still in the box they came in unopened.
The one that I had first, ... while the other 2 were or the way......... the .. button came off; it was glued on;;;;;;; now to tell the truth the thing does actually still work, but, ya know,, the way it looks is kinda, ............. (actually I guess it looks like my car come to think of it....)

So anyway; I'm currently awaiting a guppy on a slow boat from china.

I can't say how the authentic poldiac actually is compared to the clone I got, but if the switch mechanism was similar design - regardless of material quality, I wouldn't buy it.

What I want in a switch is something with big obvious metal to metal visible contact, not some small needle or 2 millimetre pin or nail that you need to take to a locksmith to repair.

Something that looks more like this:

Big enough metal contact; if it istn't touching you can SEE that it isn't touching

Yea but in a real poldiac they are built correctly. Dont know what a locksmith is needed for ( never seen the clones)

But the real one is easy to take apart, clean, and put back together in minutes.
So far in all the years they have existed there are no posts about the button not working.

These are the major complaints with the clones, they look the same but they came nowhere close to the actual build quality or function

the 3 clones I have are also real easy to take apart, clean, and put back together in minutes.

The two problems are:
1: the plastic encasing where the switch contact takes place:
if I manage to damage that it's going to be an "oh @#it" moment.
2: the small contact points.
You really don't need big contact points for something to work flawlessly for months.
But I don't want months, I want decades. That's actually the reason there are more bottom fired mechs than top fired mechs. The bottom fired mechs have BIG clear VISIBLE metal contacts. With most of the top fired stuff, when the switch goes bad, or worse when it works sometimes but not all the time, the user wastes a lot of time figuring out that the switch is the problem; and if somebody manages to figure that out can he fix it?

Well im goint to leave it at this
Do a search for button problems, almost none, and thats more then many other mods can claim, even the ones with big ol bottom contacts.

And

Unlike 90% of the other mods parts are actually available.

If you ( or anyone for that matter) ends up messing up the plastic housing. You will earn a special spot in the first time for everything catagory.

If 4+ years of proven history dont prove anything i dont know what will. Unlike bottom buttons theres nothing rubbing, no friction causing wear or parts grinding.

If you dont like it thats certainly your choice. But to date, in 3 years the poldiac has been the most reliable mod ive ever owned, even more then my retired provari.

And no, i disagree the reason theres more bottom button mods is because its cheaper and simple to make and requires a lot less precision to get right cut a big disc add a spring put in a pin. Even sloppy buttons will still work most of the time.

the big 3 poldiac, atmizoo and 69 actually work right becuase they engineered it correctly. Who wants to spend time designing something when they can slap together the same old thing everyone else is doing, drop their logo on it and say look, look, we got one too.

And lets face it, these mods wouldnt still be selling if they couldnt hold their own or were known to be problematic.

For how long have they been PEEK? Presumably that means the button base upgrade is never necessary...

From what I can find, the Poldiac v2 was released in December 2013 and it included the PEEK Ketron internals. The Poldiac v1.5 was released in April 2014 and was an updated v1 that came with the PEEK Ketron internals - I believe that the v1.5 is the same as the Classic.

I run my poldiac at 0.5 ohms with no problem, but these stock switch parts were changed by the previous owner.
