Polishing a sub box / tank?

First off im new here and after lurking around for quite a while I have to say I am very impressed with the community. Anyway back to the OT, I have had a mkni kbox and sub tank for a few years now, its white... or at least the paint it has left is white. Rather than ditch old faithful for a new mod I was wondering what you all think about wet sanding the paint off and then polishing the remaining bare metal. It appears to have been done already, actually; I polished my SuBox Mini and i think it came out looking quite nice. Also made the +/- Buttons out of metal • /r/electronic_cigarette

So I am confident I can accomplish the same look on the mimi kbox as well, however what I am concerned about is the subtank. Do you all think doing the same thing to the tank will cause any issues? As of now the glass has a tight fit with the orings and inner rib cage of the tank... will removing the paint be a drastic enough change in diamater to cause issues? Any feedback and opinions are appreciated, I dont want to leave myself with a leaking subtank and no way to vape.

I would think that the o rings should still seal. It's a really tight fit and they are literally what holds the glass on. I'm probably going to be doing the same thing to mine, since the white powdercoat is getting chipped up.
