Polyfill, PG, & Glycerine questions

I am a fairly new convert here, and a DIY person by nature. I have a couple of questions.

1. Is it dangerous if a thread or two of the polyfill ends up touching the atomizer? Will this result in burning plastic fiber fumes being inhaled?

2. In my experiments so far, it seems that Glycerine is superior to PG for creating steam. Yet I see many folks do use PG. Does PG have qualities that some find superior to Glycerine?

Thanks.

Poly will melt so you have to be careful with that---many have switched to teabags as cores or drip right on the atomizer using just the tip. As for PG v. VG---it is all in the chosing. Pg does not need to be thinned out like VG does to mix and VG can overpower the flavor so you have to use more flavor with VG. There is nothing known to be superior about either one that is confirmed. Most commercal e-liquid is PG so that is why you see it is use so much. I personally use VG, but that is just my preference---you are right that most Members use PG. Pg does bother some people who are allergic to it.---------hope that helps ----Sun

The poly can become "scorched" and gives a particularly bad "burnt" taste to the vapor. I always try to remove any of the loose poly fibers from the atomizer area but avoid fooling with the wicking material of the bridge. Many people use pg due to its viscosity (thinner) compared to the vg (or glycerine) and its' abundance in so many consumable products. The pg has a higher boiling point and some have expressed concern about the vg lower boiling point (better vapor) and conversion to acrolyn (sp?). Hope this helps. Much information is to be found in the many threads.

Very helpful. Thank you. Rather than mix, I've been dripping a couple drops of the nicotine juice in the filter, then a drop or two of glycerine on the atomizer. Since it was mentioned that glycerine ordinarily should be watered down a bit, and I'm not doing that so far, I probably have been overworking my atomizer. Sometimes I nearly have to reach for a potholder to grip my 510! It also seems to me that the glycerine adds a certain sweetness that I don't detect from PG as well.
