Hey all -

I've been around and around on the whole cart fillers/mods/etc. I am sure a part of this is just my own personal issues (fingers are too big, liquid may be too viscous, not enough patience). I've literally spent days of troubleshooting trying to get what I thought was the most out of my 801 carts.

This is nothing special, and I'm sure many of you are doing this. I am hoping that those of you who are struggling with getting a good wicking 801 cart may benefit from this.

Supplies Needed:
801/302/Kissbox Cart, it doesn't really matter at all. They all seem to work just the same as the others.
Pointed Tip Tweezers
Morning Glory High Loft Quilters Polyester Batting
Plastic Coffee Stirrer (Straw)
Scissors
Paperclip or needle, about 2 inches long

I cut out the size of polyester batting that I want to use, this seems to be likely the most important part of ALL. I cut a piece that is 3.5cm long x 1.3cm wide. I then pinch the filler in between my tweezers length wise, and wrap the filler around the outside of the tweezers to easily fold it in half. I take the folder polyfill and then pinch it back in between the tweezers and compress it some, trying to make it as tight as possible while pinched inside the tweezers. Now I stuff the polyfill in the cart and reach the bottom easily.

Once the cart is stuffed, I pull it out about 1mm, and cut it flush with the top of the cart. Now I can press it back into the cart and it's at a good level for the atomizer for wicking.

I then take my coffee stirrer (straw), cut it 2.4cm long. I'll cut the straw at an angle on the bottom part, to make a nice angeled cut so that the air can easily go up the straw from a wider mouth at the bottom of the cart. I then take a straightened paperclip to push the polyfill away from a corner of the cart, and slide the straw down so that it can reach the very deep portion of the 801 cart. The polyfill should be about 1-1.5mm above where the top of the straw is at., and about 1mm below the top of the cart itself.

Now the cart is done. You have enough filler to wick the liquid to the atomizer without retaining it, but not enough to cause it to rush out and flood the atomizer. The straw in place will allow you to easily fill/top off the cart without the need of a syringe or waiting a while for each of the drops to eventually soak in. I usually get a good 25 or so drops in the cart when freshly made, you can experiment with this and go for more. I have found too much just ends up flooding the atomizer, it seems to work better with a little less liquid than fully saturated.

Now, you're not going to dry your carts bone dry, at least I dont, but you shouldn't have to top off very often, and for any of the liquid that's not wicking from the very bottom of the cart up to the top, you can just pull the filler out, plunge it through a syringe and top off a new cart.

I spend far less time now a days than I had before, pulling the cart out of my PV, dripping, topping off, etc, etc. For me, this is much less maintenance, and is working quite well.

The polyfill seems to last me maybe 2 days of heavy vaping before it really needs to be changed out for fresh filler, as the fibers do tend to stop wicking like new, by then.

Now that you have the measurements, you can sit down for 5-10 minutes with a strip of polyfill batting, cut the rectangles out to spec, and have a bag full of ready to pack polyfill cuts.

I found a lazy alternative to the straw mod. I also use a straightened paper clip to remove filler. When refilling I leave the paperclip in the cart. This causes the polyfill to be pushed away from the edge and gives the same effect as the straw. Sometimes it still gets flooded too soon, but I just push the paperclip inside a bit and you can see the juice go down. When I am finished I remove the paperclip.
