Straw Mod, PBT mod, & Blue Foam mod problems..

Just like everyone else, I've grown tired of filling up my 510 cart only to get about 10 drags from it and then losing flavor. I hate having to carry a 3 mL bottle of my liquid around with me to constantly top my carts -- all because the very top of my filler is dried, while the bottom 3/4 of my filler is pack full of liquid that doesn't seem to get used.

So I...

(1) Tried the Blue Foam mod. I thoroughly washed the blue foam before using it. I then cut it pretty thick -- so much that I can barely fit it into the tweezers to put it into the cart. It really lets me drop a ton of liquid in, and tastes great for about the first 10 or so drags.

But then I realize that it is leaking from where the cart fits onto the atomizer. Worse yet, it even leaks tons more from the join where the atty screws into the battery. It makes a real mess.

A couple more drags later, and I am tasting a terrible plastic taste.

Most times I also ended up flooding my atty.

So then I...

(2) Tried the Pyramid Tea Bag mod. This one seemed to give me a ton of flavor, but leaked even worse than the blue foam mod. And also again...a flooded atty.

So then I...

(3) Tried the straw mod. I cut the straw with a beveled end (at the bottom) and made sure it was cut just a tiny bit shorter than the cart. I packed the rest with my polyfil (also tried fluval).

Again...5 or more drags into it, and I notice the dang think is leaking from the join where that battery & atty screw together.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Why the terrible taste with the blue foam, and the terrible leaking with all 3 mods? I've watched the YouTube vids on all of these. I just can't seem to figure out what I'm doing so different from them.

Is it possible that OVERFILLING the carts? With these mods, I am often able to get almost 20 drops into my cart without it "pooling" up.



Anyone got any ideas or advice on this?

I had the same problem with leaking at the cart/atty joint, now I just use the blue foam and put about 3 drops on top.I have been trying to find a small wide rubberband to put on the joint, but no luck yet.

I've tried the blue foam and the straw. and not meaning to sound snarky. You have to be doing it wrong.

First the straw mod does not work much better than stock. Several extra hits but you still out run the wicking abilities of the poly. It does fill better.

Drops change from bottle to bottle and juice to juice. So 20 drops is pretty ambiguous. Still 20 drops sounds like to many.

The cutting to thick part confuses me. It's 1'4 inch thick. What blue foam are you using?

Not snarky at all. I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong. That's why I'm asking for your input. It is much appreciated.

I'm using the blue Marineland foam that you get for fish tanks in the pet aisle. The reason I cut it so thick was in hopes that if I cut it thicker, it would be more dense, and less liquid would be able to leak out.

Oh yes...and when I say thick, I guess I should say "wide". Does that clarify?

So you think I may just be putting too much liquid in then? All I do is fill it up until it "pools" up...then I use a towel to dry the "pool" up until it looks "slushy" at the top -- if that makes any sense.

The slushy thing works on the original poly. With the blue foam it means you have over filled.

Fill to the ledges and insert the foam. Turn it foam down and look. It should be wet.

Blue foam is cheap. You need to experiment with the cut size until you find the amount of compression of the foam that matches the thickness of the liquid you use.

Once I found the sweet spot, when my cartridge vapes empty, the cart and foam are empty. Only when I overfill do I get any leaking. Also, what Wireguy posted is true, you don't want pooling or "wet" looking foam, that's a sign of overfill with the blue foam.
