Hello All,
After much research and consideration i bought myself a Silve Bullet last week. The experince has been great, excellent; well except for one thing.

I've been using 2 different configs:

1. 6v (cr123) with the 510 standard atty
2. 3.7 (18650) with 510 LR atty

I've had the device for 4 days and I'm on my 3rd atomizer; at this rate its more expensive than smoking. Does anyone else just goes through attys like crazy with this device?

I had been keeping the LR atty very wet...

I've blown 1 standard atty - which was kind of old, by that i mean a week,,lol--so i chalked it up to that.

and I've just blown my 2nd LR atty this afternoon- it worked and then it just didnt, same with the other LR atty. I'm getting like a day and half out of atty if im lucky so far. and I'm switching between the mods several times a day so its not like total abuse on one atty. I just dont get it. Are the LR atty's kind of just junk or what? they hit great--for a day.

I have a couple more Silver Bullets on the way and now I'm becoming concerned. Like I need another money pit to piss my money down.

I really dont want to use the SB at 3.7 with a standard atty - I've become spoiled now finally able to replicate that feeling of smoking--Seems when it comes to E-cigs I'm always dumping one problem for another.

Until I had gotten the SB I had never literally popped an atty;;they just kind of start underperforming and i know its time to switch--with the SB its just totally killing them--I have to wonder if its the attys from altsmoke or what? Not that I'm playing the blame game they have been more than responsive with questions but i dont really want to send anything over to Rob about this - really what can he do? So you know,,this was more of a question looking for opinions rather than looking for a fix i guess.

Since I started vaping at HV I've been mowing down armys of attys myself. As an experiment, I tried "tail-piping" with a 510 (I drip exclusively). I was thinking maybe I had been burning them up by getting them too hot while distracted... Bingo! Without a cart or drip-tip insulating my lips from the heat, it doesn't matter how engrossed in something I become, I notice when that atty starts burning my lips! I've been vaping @ 6Volts, and I haven't fried an atty in 2.5 weeks. They used to last that many days.

Great tip! I'm going to try that, the only time I kill atty's is when I'm surfing. I try to be careful but you know how it is.

I too went through many a atty when i got my SB and put it up to 6v. What I found was using the high resistance cartomizers from nhaler.com was a much better solution. I went through 3 atty's in one day but the cartomizers are lasting me well over a couple of weeks at a time, and for 10 bucks you get 5 of 'em in a pack. I've used carto's exclusively from the first time I got them in the mail and will never go back to a standard 510 atty.....not even a HV one because the carto's are much more convenient.

I don't have to mess with topping off cartriges, dripping while I'm driving, and they hold a bit more juice than normal. On a new blank I've been averaging about 25-28 drops to fill one.

Blank 510 Mega Cartomizers

Hope this helps a bit!!!

Interestingly enough there seems to be a pattern developing.

I appreciate your replies and advice.

I now have yet another atomizer that doesnt work,,thats 2 today for a grand total of 4 in 4 days.

I thought about heat but interestingly enough; i wasnt even using the device last time when i decided to go from 6v down to 3.7 with the standard atty attached. I just switched out the battery, pressed the button and nothing. Now whats interesting is 20 minutes before i had just hit it and set it down--there was no issue. But after swapping the battery now it doesnt work,,i tried all my 3.7 batts and even went back to the 6v mod and nothing with this brand new atty. With as much as i've been switching mods around trying to find the sweet spot this seems to make total sense to me.

I am very careful to never depress the button on the 6v with the LR atty attached. I hear thats bad so I've been careful in that aspect and i dont think its really been user error. I've been vaping for over a year and while i agree there is a small learning curve with the SB there wasnt much i really had to comprehend to enjoy it.

the way i understand it is

use the LR atty with a 3.7 to simulate 5v experience--i prefer this

use a standard atty with either type of battery mod--i think--but for sure with the 6v config.

So yeah I stil dont get it

the atty was totally cool it worked 20 minutes before,,,different battery and poof it just doesnt work anymore and when i think about it thats pretty much how all the attys have died,,after swapping the battery to a different voltage.

So i wonder if it would be best to not have tha atty attached to the cap when playing with batteries or when screwing the bullet back together.

I dont know I'm confused, irritated--i want to vape but with losing 4,,i really only have one left for now and i dont even want to use it. SUCKS

AHH this may help a bit---so a cartomizer is atty and cart combined?

how easy is it to refill? Now one thing i notice is that it says higher resistance---I'm kind of digging the lower resistance.. I'm starting to think its the device itself--although im not in a place to say--i should have 2 more bullets showing up tomorrow so i'm going to swap to the other one and give it a go--luckily i had the hindsite to order a few more attys but at this rate its only a 10 day supply....Still suck'n....lol
it seems like something is shorting the attys out---its just weird for them to go without really being used and now noticing when the stop working, after battery swap---i dont know, something is amiss.

it sucks to lose attys..

you might try unscrewing the atty when you change out the battys and then screw back in. I had a mod once that for some reason was causing a short, I guess when I did exactly what you are doing.. Solved once I did that.

good luck....

Just to add to the above, with carto's I'm able to vape heavily all day and I usually take about a 5 second pull at 6v and they are still holding up REALLY WELL :D

Had to throw that in there for an idea of longevity.

I see what you're saying now---well after reading it again---higher resistance with 6v---that could really be the ticket as with the 6v i notice it tastes burnt. Thanks for your input.

If you get the ones listed in my post they have the soft rubber tops, so a paper clip or something else small will lift the top right off and just drip inside until you see it get full. As for the resistance, I've taken the slight (and I mean slight..not noticeable at all) drop in voltage. It's basically a compromise to be able to use my SB with no grief.

I don't think it's the device on its own...6v is a hard animal to tame and I didn't want to take the time or money to try. I was frustrated enough from trying to find a good cart mod and didn't need the extra aggeravation. The carto was the best solution for me.

Tell ya what, if you want, PM me your addy and I'll send you one to try. Trust me, I feel your pain. I have some pre-filled ones left that have been sitting and waiting for the day I didn't have any blank ones left (which will be a while...I think I have 20 or so more to go through :D)

dfulmer is the only one I'm giving a trial to...sorry every one else who reads this ;)

Thanks G33K, I'll take you up on that offer---I'll pm you in the later am with my addy. Seriously thanks again.

Did I mention I live 10 minutes from Cincy and I'm a huge Steelers fan. When i cut myself I actually bleed black and gold. You have no idea how hard it is to be a steelers fan living in the nati area. Especially after last year and well the off season....lol....i take crap all day everyday....haha

maybe i shouldnt have told you---i hope this doesnt change your mind...lmao

no problem. I was having the exact same problem you are.. hope it helps..

You might also want to try the new 2.0 atty 510 from ikenvape.. it is awesome.. IMO much better than the LR 510 1.5's. Better TH without a burnt taste and more vapor.. nice vapes.. I love them.. Just for 3.7 but should do great on your SB.
