On some other thread yesterday it was stated that popping and crackling (and in my case, spitting hot juice jets) is a sign of excellent electrical conductivity that should abate as time passes and the coil becomes more and more oxidized. Now, I have a week old coil that has been through upwards of a dozen refills and 4 wicks and is still popping and spitting just about every time I fire it, so while I'm flattered that my KFL seems to be constantly praising my coil-building skills, I kind of wish it wasn't so painfully vicious about it. But I never was very good at accepting compliments....

I love the popping and crackling noises :D

I love it to... makes me feel and hear like everything is working as expected.

I was wondering if that meant to much juice, not enough juice, the perfect amount of juice. Coil too tight on wick, coil to lose on wick, coil needs more air, coil is burning the wick at that point, etc..etc..etc..

The popping is usually when the liquid rapidly reaches it's flash point. I personally love it and get bursts of flavor with the pop. I've been loving 24 gauge kanthal, I put some on my RSST and got it to .46 ohms with 5 wraps and the liquid shoots off the coils with the cap off. Crazy spatter effect. Noisy vapes for the win. I had the vertical nano dragon in my Russian and didn't like how quiet it was

If I hold my protank mouthpiece to my ear with the mouthpiece tilted up, I hear a rolling bubbling sound; tilt it vertically upwards to unflood the coil and the crackliing popping starts and becomes pronounced.

I first noticed the crackling popping with my v-nanos.

Different liquids pop differently.

I imagine if you reduce the voltage/power level the popping should reduce.

the reason for the popping and crackling is like a hot frying pan that you drip drops of water on.

if you flood the pan, then instead of the popping crackling, you will get a dull sound, maybe even a rolling boil.

if the wick dries out completely then the popping and cracking would die out too I think- then you'd really be smokin bleh
