Popping noise?

Hi there!

So, just today I got my first vaping set-up - thanks to one thread in particular in this forum, I got an Ego C-twist and vivi nova.

I got some tobacco menthol juice at 24 nicoteine. I thought I'd need it as I've been a 2 PAD smoker, but I'm getting light-headed, so maybe it's too high?

Anyways, the first one tasted kind of burnt, so I rinsed, dry burned and rinsed again another head and tank and it seems better. The thing is, it makes a popping noise when in use that the other didn't. Is this something I should be worried about? Did I put it back together incorrectly?

Since I'm posting anyway, I'd like to expand my juices right away. I know there are threads upon threads on it, but it's information overload and I don't understand a lot of the acronyms and jargon. I smoked menthol light cigarettes, love coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Some suggestions on where and what to buy would be great!

P.S. I wouldn't mind trying some fruity stuff either.

Thanks in advance to any experienced vapors that respond!

The popping noise could possibly be from the coils getting to hot. Check your voltage and resistance of your head. I noticed mine started popping when I had the voltage to high.

Can be, or can just be the juice thing. Always been a juice thing with the vivi novas for me. Vertical coil cartomizers have a popping sound too.

Hmm, I have the voltage right in the middle, around 3.8 and a 2.4 head - should I turn it down more?

Also, the light-headed thing was off of my first couple puffs and hasn't subsided, so I don't think it's how much I'm vaping, but maybe 24 is just too high in general?

Also, I'm going to check out Mt. Baker. I just browsed Alice in Vapeland and placed a sampler order, but they're not shipping for like 2 weeks.

What's the deal with the PG VG thing?

I wouldn't worry. Cartomizers make a popping noise too. Except the horizontal coil ones. 3.8 volts on a 2.4 ohm head is fine. Just vape it a bit more and the popping should stop. If your voltage was too high your coil would pop in a different way and die.

Thanks Kiwivap. You guys are really so helpful here!

I use Mt. Baker Vapor a lot - use coupon code ecf for a discount.

PG enhances nicotine delivery so it increases throat hit that way. It also produces some vapor.
VG produces most of the vapor.

I like PG/VG 80/20 or 70/30 myself, but also sometimes use 50/50 - and notice a lot more vapor with increased VG.
Just comes down to preference really. I've found higher VG (50% for me) gives a smoother kind of vape.
VG is much thicker than PG so if you go higher than 50% VG be aware of that.
PG/VG 80/20, 70/30 or 50/50 all work ok in vivi novas.

I was also a pack a day smoker, and the 24 was way too much for me. I've been off and on e-cigs for a few years now, this time I've been off analogs for about 6 months... my sweet spot is right around 12mg or so. I just tried a sample of 18mg last night and got kind of sweaty and clammy, and just a little nauseated. I've been doing DIY, so I just cut it with some plain pg down to 12mg and I'm chain vaping it just fine.

Welcome to ECF. I've used EC Blends for a lot of my juice. Some like it some don't. They have a chocolate/vanilla 555 that is good to me and also a chocolate Hazelnut tobacco. Also they got all sorts of coffee flavors that you can customize. For most of my juice I go to Heathers Heavenly Vape. Depends on your cash flow as to what you want and can afford. Just remember to buy small sample bottles to start with so you don't wind up with a lot of juice you don't like. And good luck.

So glad I checked back before placing my order on Mt. Baker, now with a discount code and better understanding of the PG/EG thing! I'm going to try some 50/50 and some 70/30 I think. What are your favorites from there? Especially wondering if the coffee ones are good?

Thanks also, ridethespiral, that makes me feel better. Seems to be working fine, just a popping noise right after it starts.

My favorites may not be yours. I liked the cafe coffee but I got 2 extra flavor shots with it after the first order. I do like the taste with the extra shots. However, it seems to really clog up my vivi heads - so I have to clean after 1 tank of it usually.
My everyday vape is his RY4 - this doesn't taste anything like tobacco, and doesn't taste like any other RY4 I've tried. But be warned - it is a rich deep flavor and tastes like it has vanilla, liquorice and something else in it.
I love the caramel apple from him - it really is good.

What I'd recommend is buying a bunch of the small 10ml bottles - so you can try a variety. A lot of people like his butterscotch but I was not so keen on it. I really like the Bavarian creeam, but then some people don't.
It's subjective what a person will like. My meat may be your poison, or vice versa.

I usually get 70/30 and I do like his juices overall - quite good.

Yup, I'm getting a bunch of small bottles. I'm adding the cafe coffee with an extra shot but actually removing the RY4 that I had in my cart because I can't stand liquorice (ever since I got sick off Zambuca as a kid!). Adding the caramel apple too!

I realize people have different tastes, but since it's all new to me, your favorites are as good a starting as any. I'm excited to try the banana nut bread one!

My throat is kind of hurting, so I think the 70/30 is also going to be a better bet.

I really thought with as much as I smoked, the high nic and harsh throat hit would've been what I needed. Interesting. On the up side, I've not even wanted a cigarette a little bit since I got my mail today - how friggin awesome is that?!

I forgot the banana nut bread. Mine is "Bananas gone nuts" from him - same thing I think - anyway - I love that one.
Glad you realized about the RY4. I love it but its not for everyone.

And yes, lower PG may be easier on your throat too.

This stuff is way better and more fun than cigarettes ever were. It is awesome.
