4 yr + vaper. Got my first kayfun a week ago and I like it. Using a chai yu mech mod and so far so good.

I have a question tho to those who know. For a long time since I've been vaping I've noticed a pop or a snap sometimes when taking a drag. Now with my 3rd rebuild on my kayfun I am noticing it on pretty much every drag.

Could someone tell me what is happening inside my e cig when I hear this noise?

Thanks

Funny, as I was reading this and taking a hit off of my Russian, guess what? It popped, I also noticed I got a burst of flavor as well when it did.

I'm assuming it is a flooding thing, but I will let other chime in as I have only had my Russian for a couple of weeks. Previously used a Vivi Nova.

Edited to say: I don't know if it is relevant but I'm using two 37 gauge Kanthal twisted out to a 1.8 ohm Coil.

They are 'happy farts' from a properly joosed and sated coil!

LOL, this ^^^.

When my attys stop popping, I know they're past their prime and a dry burn and re-cotton is imminent.

Sometimes when I put something too small in the microwave, it does the same thing. I think it's pretty much the same phenomenon.

Makes a mess in the microwave, but it's heaven in a atty :thumb:

Hmm I'll have to keep an ear out for popping to quit and coil needing cleaning.
I need to rewick now on my kayfun as it taste horrible and it isn't popping anymore maybe you are on to something...

The thing with cotton wicks is if you get to them before they get too gunked up it's easy to pull them out, the dry burn is quick and the rewick with cotton is always quick. I can also sometimes reuse a wick once, though I'm doing that less and less these days.

On my Kayfun's, I've found that if the cotton wick gets too gunked up to pull it through the coil I can take a pair of small scissors and cut one end of the wick as close to the coil as possible then I can pull the cotton out without messing up the coil. After disassembling the tank you can run the base under water with the coil and wick attached and this will wash a lot of that gunk off making it easier to remove the wick.

Sounds like a hot spot on your coil, caused by loo little wick. I used to get this and ignore it, because I was only vaping at 8 watts and I couldn't taste anything detrimental. Now I sub-ohm at a considerably higher power level, I know that sound means it will be followed by a burnt taste. You should probably put slightly more wick through the coil, but not so much that you are choking your coil resulting in dry hits. Wicking only becomes critical at higher power levels anyway. If you are using cotton, you should be easily able to slip the cotton in, with only the slightest bit of resistance to being pulled through. :)
