Normally its the condensation in the drip tip falling back into the coil. Try pulling the tip every now and then and blow it out. You will love the goblin (assuming you mean the UD Goblin) Great tank. Watch some vids on wicking it.

Popping has been common with every tank I've used. It's more common when it's been sitting unused for awhile as it gets going again.
The popping I always experienced went away once the coil was broken in better.
