as big as the vaping community is most of the youth (I'm only 18) isn't too familiar with e cigs. when i say e cig to a peer they automatically assume I'm talking about the cheap cigalikes from a gas station. a lot of my friends and people who aren't into vaping refer to my setup (usually a mech mod with an aspire nautilus on top) as a "portable hookah." whenever i hear this i cringe for some reason and hate them calling it that. i always get annoyed and say no its not a portable hookah its a vape. and then they say whats the difference and to be honest i can never think of an answer. it just annoys me that they correlate my e cig with a hookah. anybody else get a weird vibe from the term portable hookah?

nope never had anyone call it that. But I was shooting carp with my bow and arrow and a guy was watching me. he then walked up and asked me what was the name of the fish caller I was using. I asked him what he meant and he pointed to my SVD with a Kayfun. I told him it was my electronic smoke. he said oh, I thought you were calling the fish in to shoot. LOL

Actually that's how I describe it, especially when I'm using a mech and a dripper with the airflow opened up. The nicotine absorption feels very similar to a hookah, there are lots of flavors, it works by adding a nicotine to a reusable device, and the idea of a hookah is not to burn the tobacco but to vaporize it (it does burn some though).

E-Cig is a bit of a misnomer anyway, the way PVs work is nothing like a cig, and the only reason they're called that is because cigarettes are the most popular form of nicotine consumption and they're a replacement for it. If pipe tobacco or hookah was the most popular, we would probably feel weird about people calling them e-cigs.

I've had mine called a Little B---. This was after I explained to the person what it was, and we go to the same CHURCH. She made a big fuss about it at one of our church softball games a few weeks ago. I was ticked, to say the least. People sure do have big mouths when they don't know what they're talking about.

I personally like to call it my Electronic Nicotine Delivery System. Sounds technical, explains exactly what it does and by what means, and has a cool acronym: ENDS
As far as what anyone else calls it, I shrug it off. I've heard it called numerous things now. I've even been jokingly accused of vaping concentrates in my tank. I can't, of course, tell them that's my OTHER vape ;).
I just read a post where someone called it a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System, which is immature, hilarious, and surprisingly technical as well :D
