I have about 20 of these things with no use for them. It has a flashlight, solar rechargeable battery, mini usb chargeable, and a usb mini output as well. Anyone care to take this one on seriously with me and create a 5v mod with it? It seems like the perfect "camping" 5v mod. lol:evil:

ps This has a 5v output for charging phones already on it. I couldn't imagine it being to difficult but I'm a n00b and don't need to venture into unknown territory yet. The battery says 800mAh GD-10 When I checked the Volts it read -3.3 which was strange to me but maybe its because the board mounted next to it is designed to pull in a charge? :\ anyways I'm willing to ship one out to whomever feels confident enough to do it. The only price I charge is the end product. I'll refund for any additional parts used (batt connector etc).

BTW I'm not charging you for them or selling them... I'm merely looking for a fellow modder that would pay shipping to get one so we can work on creating the first solar powered 5v e-cig. :D

Hmmm sounds interesting - PM me a model number or send specs and I'll play with those to determine feasabilty. :toast: I spend many days at a time in the wilderness and need a good solution.

Okay this may be hard to believe but there isn't a model number on it... :\
The company doesn't even list it on the website

Company: SolarStyle
Model: Unknown and not listed on their website

The battery listed on their website vs the one I have is different. I think this would be easier if I just mailed you both one so you can plant your eyes and hands on it. I have very little knowledge on truly knowing how to mod so I want to get it into the hands of someone that does know electronics so we can get a 5v PV built out of this bad boy. PM me your address and I'll send you both one.

I've got a pretty good output testing set up that should prove it's viability. If output is low, I've been working with a few supercapsitors that might be able to help it out .

No offense but you tested one battery pack wrong in the past...

How do I know.. because I got the same number you posted but only when I wired it to one battery, then I got the right numbers when I went off the USB ;) Under load by the way.

Thanks for the video Vapoorer

If you are speaking of the Tekkeon Test. I was curious about the accuracy of my setup so I took it to a local geek with a scope and he confirmed all that I stated (within the accuracy to be expected)

So I'm not offended by anything other than than your claim that is was "wrong" -- It was close enough to design around.

PS -- The only thing I can thing of they were different right out of the box -- who knows - but lets let dead dogs lay ......... yours is working and mine is working to both our satisfaction -- that's all that counts

No I agree and I didn't mean anything bad by it. Really I was just letting you know. I hate typing because you can't express "the way" you say what you are saying. Honestly I believe you were only running off one battery, Clumsy has one and a few other people as well and they all think it is as strong as 6volts not 3.6v 1.6amps or whatever you had stated. I tested and it stays at 5.3volts at 2amps with my 2.5 ohm JoyE atty, it is around 5.3volts and 1.8amos on my 3ohm atty under load.

Not a big deal and like you said it could have been something wrong with the device you got, I have tested 25 of them so far and none of them have had your "problem"... oh well.
