I bought the OG welder , the TSAF from a fellow in Greece. I'm not 100% but he may have been the first to come up with the idea. It's decidedly low tech and missing a lot of stuff the new ones have. A lot of peeps seem to love the Zapper V2

I actually just broke down the other day and ordered 100 ft of 28g kanthal and 32g nickel.

In your passed experience hand tying them is that too big of a size disparity? If so I'll probably wind up doing the disposable camera thing.

BAM...Zapper V2 purchased!

Haha, awesome. You'll love it.

I personally found hand joining 28g to be cumbersome, not impossible but annoying enough that I didn't use it that often.

Ok--I am making progress and using the Sophia has convinced me that I never want to use a carto again. I tried one today and it just wasn't' that enjoyable anymore.

So the time has come to go to the next level of the journey and make myself learn how to do the various coils. I purchased the zapper tonight as that looked like a rather necessary and important tool, as I do not want to sit and 'join' the wires by hand. I had already ordered some ready wires from Stormy's and they are on the way so that I can practice with those until I can watch more videos and read some more.

My question here is about wire. I have a Dripper Pro, and 4 Sophia's and will probably add one more. I know that all of those use the same size wire ( but not sure what size). I have a microstick on the way and have been looking at the Spheroid for that and I am interested in the new Heron. It appears that those take a different size wire.
I will watch and study and try not to be a pest with questions--but I would like to know if you can just get me started on what I should order to have on hand as for the wire.
I have been using cotton in the Sophia--and I know that i have read about some other materials that can be used. What are those?

Last question--does anyone have a chart as far as what voltage to use with which wires for the zapper?

Thanks in advance for answering these tedious questions!

Dripper pro is awesome new hobbit. If you are not already familiar with NR-R-NR wiring you need to look at it if you get one.

Easy mode if you don't want to twist, tie or zap your own is Stormy's readywire.

I would also recommend a beck for home use and an STR tip at least for when you are out and about so you can drip straight into the dripper without having to pop the tip off (can't do that with the beck in though).

Gonna have to get me a dripper pro. And again, I love that sleeve, it is a parish sleeve, right?
