I just came across this patent A FLAMELESS ELECTRONIC ATOMIZING CIGARETTE - Patent EP1618803

In a nutshell it would use a piezoelectric nozzle to spray liquid on to a multi-coil atomizer coil, and it would work off either micro-pumps, and/or vacuum from the suction as well as a battery.

I wonder if it would ever become a reality? I would try one!

PS. Drawings of the proposed ecig are at the bottom, of the PDF file attached to the site.

Thoughts?

That looks like SFIO (SmokeFree Inotech) that is launching their first product in the US soon (I heard this week), they're one of the few publically traded e-cig companies. Looks interesting, they claim it also produces no vapor, which while I love my vapor that could be a nice backup for places where you want to hide it.

The first patent for e-cigs was actually filed in the states, in something like 1943... it just never became anything. The current generation were started in China and spread from there.

Actually I think we could still use pg/vg based juice and get vapor, just because something is designed for one purpose doesn't mean it can't be easily repurposed.. even if a small mod or 2 is needed :)

Yeah, I'm interested to see how it really works and what the initial reviews are for it. If it's something we can refill ourselves and really does produce no vapor then I might get one for those occasions when I want to hide the vapor anyway.

Didn't Ruyan's patent include micro pumps?

Just a somewhat off topic comment: I think it was BigJim who passed this on in another thread. If you take a puff on your ecig, then inhale more air through your nose, then exhale, there is very little visible vapor. Excellent stealth vaping technique.
