I was recently going through replacement coils at a rate of one a day because of getting a "toasted paper" kind of "dry hit" after just one tank on my Nautilus Mini.

Nothing seemed to help. Not waiting between draws or drawing without firing or tilting - nothing.

Then the proverbial light bulb went on. So the next coil I put on, I took a needle and stuck it in the four juice holes and wiggled it around a bit to loosen the wick fibers a bit.

I'm now on my fourth day and ninth tank with that same coil.

Hope this helps anyone else who might be having trouble getting their Nautilus Mini to wick properly.

within my own thoughts....
I've been having issues, but not dry hits or burnt taste....but i'm gonna try this and see if this helps with me getting too much ejuice flavor...my ADV has now become too strong, so i think it's an issue with the coils and wicking possibly. Will try this and see if it helps, thanks :)

By the way, as i was reading tonight about these coils...i stumbled upon this vid. I never wanted to get into rebuilding coils, but now...i'm seriously seeing how easy it is from this vid and i just may take a crack at it!

Are your coils the ones with the small holes or larger ones? I drill out the smaller holes and rebuild them myself with 29g kanthal and Japanese cotton. They work great now. I had bad luck with the coils with small holes but good luck with the larger holed coils.
Not sure, actually. Makes sense that they might be the small hole ones, since the problem seemed to show up with coils from a new pack.

I'm still using the one I "modified" and still getting good flavor after about a dozen refills so I'm happy with the "fix".

I kinda follow his advice, but made a few modifications.

The Aspire BVC Rebuild: http://youtu.be/xnKR2pfSPz8

I disassemble the coil with a washer around the lip, a socket thst the washer doesn't fall though, and a punch with a hammer. A few taps and it pops right out. I also lightly wet the cotton with 95% grain alcohol, just enough to condense it slightly. Then I wrap it around the sleeve and slowly feed the sleeve into the coil housing with the cotton on it. Then just wrap the coil and reassemble.

If you disassemble it you see two metal walls on the inside that cover those holes (on mine anyhow). If I put a needle thru those holes I hit a metal wall, not wicking. The metal wall does not go all the way around and allows the juice to wick on the inside where you cant see. Its hard to explain, but, if you take it apart and look at it it'll make sense.

I don't doubt that it can be done, but I was under the impression that the mini had a ceramic wick. I'm assuming you are using the BVC version. The only time I ever run dry is when I'm not paying attention and suck it dry...only happened once, and NEVER again..yuck!
