hey guys sorry if this is in the wrong section but I couldnt make new threads in the sections where i thought this would go. Earlier today in my mechanical mod I was moving my magnet spacer and it touched the side of my mod. It gave me a tiny shock and a tiny black mark on my magnet but nothing else really happened. My question is the batter seems fine but should i not use this battery anymore? It worked fine after and seems to be charging. Im just afraid it's dangerous to continue to use. It's a vtc3

IMO those magnets are about the most dangerous thing you can possibly use in a PV. get rid of them!

A magnet has the same ability to attach itself to the tube as it does to the battery, and all it takes is a good bump for the magnet to say "oh, I like it better over here".

As far as the battery being still safe to use, it would take about $10,000 worth of equipment to give you a definitive answer.

this is tough one... many people wont want to answer because we all know what the answer should be. Safety says, just throw it out, because a 12 dollar battery isnt worth a venting or fire hazard. i personally would just be very careful with and keep a close eye on it. check its voltage and temperature and make sure that it behaves normally. Thats just me. Whatever you do, be careful and respect your batteries.

Only if your mod is made of iron!

In a wooden or aluminium mod they are a reasonable proposition.

As to using the battery after that - depends how much risk you like. If you throw them out after dropping them on the floor for example, then do that.
If you never charge them unattended and measure them before and after using them - then do that.

If it shows damage or irregular charging - i discard them in a heartbeat.

While there isn't a magnetic attraction, they will still short out if they touch the aluminum. (if the inside of your Reo is painted, you're safe)

just make sure you throw that battery out in a metal garbage can or put it outside on concrete until you can take it to be recycled. I still use batteries that i have shorted multiple times but i WONT leave even known good ones unattended in my house. the best suggestion i got is to get a metal cash box and use it for battery storage and charging.

How about disposing of the battery properly? Lithium ion batteries are not to be thrown in the trash.

I was looking at vtc4's on ebay before I ordered them off triangle vape. The ebay seller states that the i2 charger should not be used on the vtc3's or 4's which is what I have. Has anyone had any experience with this charger killing these batteries?

Heh. Not sure why the seller is making that claim but Nitecore's are known for killing all sorts of things - including themselves.

All I can tell you is Xtar and Pila chargers don't have those kind of complaints coming up on ECF.
