Well, I just can't resist posting these of my sugar gliders which are Australian marsupials. Believe me: I am not in any way promoting keeping these as pets. Waaay too many people keep them in tiny cages and feed them an inappropriate diet (such as pelleted glider chow). They need a huge freakin' cage with lots of glider-appropriate toys as you can see by the last pic of my colony's home. They live as long as a dog or cat, need the care of an expensive exotic pet veterinarian, and constant enrichment to keep them from becoming bored. Gliders kept alone can become so miserable and depressed that they will sometimes self-mutilate (like chewing their own tails off). Males need to be neutered - and it's a LOT more expensive than a dog or cat. A fresh fruit, vegetable, protein (including bugs) meal must made fresh daily with a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio. So - They are not great pets. I'm afraid you'll need to click on the thumbnails to see them up close. *sorry*

That being said - Aren't they ADORABLE!? Cuteness overload!

Squeezles (the mother rescued off of Craigslist) with Blinkers in her pouch. An infection had "melted" on of her ears and she'd chewed off half of her tail. She had been kept alone.

Rave, they're precious. Was mama pregnant when you got her? She looks very happy now. :) Kudos to you my lady!

My dear friends hubby nearly hit a baby squirrel mowing the yard. Not realizing what she was getting into they brought it in and hand raised it. 9 years latter, Rocky (who turned out to be a girl) lives happily in her 12x10 floor to ceiling cage on their patio. She eats fresh mushrooms, spinach, veggies...much more than the peanuts I thought they lived on.

Nope - Squeezles was not pregnant when I adopted her. I had a single male, Dizzy (another rescue) that needed company so I got Squeezles. They had three daughters before I had him neutered - Blinkers, Bonkers, and Bitty. They are very high-maintenance if ya do it right.

Okay - Here's another contribution to lighten the mood that I darkened with my rant:
