OH MY GOD Victor!!! That studio is a wet dream.....how far is Canada from Iowa?? I play acoustic guitar and write and am currently recording with a friend in his house in a room the size of a bathroom - gotta do what ya gotta do - that is a beautiful set up!

Thanks. The studio build itself took about 9 months doing the work myself - 6 months construction and a few months for acoustic testing and wiring.
The build was kind of a pain in the ... (in retrospect I should have demolished the existing structure and built new from the ground up) so I was REALLY happy when it was finished. The end result is not bad.
I actually used to have a photo diary of the build on-line. I should put that back up.
Iowa to my part of Canada is a bit of a hike.
Recording in small rooms is tough. I feel for you. The only advice I can give you is before you finalize your mix, test it a day later on a different system (one you trust) in a larger room. I like to wait a day - at least 24 hours - and listen to the track with fresh ears in another environment. Make some notes and then go adjust your small room mix if needed.

Huh? what ? what did I miss now? oh! now ,now Dr. Frankenstein, be careful with those fingers you don't want to end up like me. And the first dr. that got to me forgot to fix the tendons that were shredded, the second doctor didn't fix the carpal tunnel that turned the whole hand into a battlfield between pain and numbness. and the third surgeon.well he did okay. I couldn't do the one finger salute for about 6 months though.
So READ THAT BOOK!!!
