I have been getting a lot of PMs where people are having to pay extra postage on the PIF swaps. The main problem lies in the fact that a lot of our members are disabled and it is really difficult to get to the post office to pay for the extra postage to get their PIF. Please, please make sure you put enough postage to cover it.

One thing that I do know about it, if you use a regular envelopes and the bottle makes it stick out past a certain point they will charge extra because it won't go thru the regular mail sorter. This is PIF so let's make sure we make it as easy on everyone as we can.

I didn't know that but people have sent me stamped bubble mailers with 5 stamps. I just sent out a stack and most of them had 6 stamps except for one that was really thin which had 5.

I hope no one runs into these problems with my packages, if you do please tell me I will send you something to make up for the trouble..

When Mailing Juices out I have come up with a formula for weight. For every 12 Ml of juice it amounts to .7 Oz of weight, Packaging comes out to .4 Oz. I just add total ml and divide by 12, multiple by .7 and add .4, it works flawlessly and have verified it at the PO with ALOT of packages. I use bubble mailer that Measure 6x6 inches and weigh more then a envelope and I use alot of tape, the entire envelope is covered in tape thoroughly. For those that dont have a scale trust me on this. If the number comes up just shy of a whole number go to the next whole number. I have a scale but find it easier to do this than pulling out the scale, but have checked it against my scale. If this is confusing to anyone feel free to ask.

I am sure I could read that 5 more times and figure it out but if you want to dumb it down... :p

How much weight per stamp then? I usually put 5 or 6 stamps per envelope. If any of mine were short please LMK. I am so sorry. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Jenn

add the total ML up, divide by 12, multiply by.7, add.4 and that is the total weight. Is that better Sallana LOL

If you can't get to the post office, and own a kitchen scale, the formula for parcel post is pretty simple: $1.22 for the first ounce, and then add $0.17 for each additional ounce. I have a bunch of regular stamps, and sheets of 1, 2, and 10 cent stamps. It's really easy.

But you need a kitchen scale. :p

I'm a little confused about this. I thought if it didn't have enough postage, it got sent back to the sender? I know that's happened to me before with work stuff I've sent, not PIF stuff. Why on earth would they ask the receiver to pay?

depends where along the line they catch it, and a thicker than normal envelope stands a good chance of being checked at the destination post office according to my postmaster

I thought the same thing... I remember back in the day if we wanted to send something to a friend we would put their address in the sender's spot... and intentionally not put postage on it :D.... well we were in the same city and they were only letters... but still :D

that's good to know info
