Posts Till Reply Ability

Well I just tried to reply to a post in the general forum but it wouldn't let me. I'm assuming I have to have a minimum number of posts in the new area first? Five or so? I'm going to post a few things and see if that does it.

I've got more than five now but it's still not letting me reply in the general forum. I wonder if it means five ORIGINAL posts and doesn't include replies.

It might also take a day for the server to recognize.

I think its to prevent bots from spamming posts one day and getting reply and ability to post in other sections.

Could be that a mod has to approve it. A possible automated message is sent and then they check to make sure everything is legit. Then they activate your privileges.

That may be the case. It wasn't instant for me, either.

Small price to pay to keep the riff-raff out.

Read the thread linked above again. It can take up to an hour for the server to run the "promotion" routine that lets you post in other parts of the forum.

This must be a newer rule because I had three posts credited to my account prior to today that were made in other areas of the forum. They were made several months ago, however.

I too would like to reply in the general forum. As a noob I still have a lot of questions. I will keep reading every thread looking for answers for now.

I'm able to post elsewhere now. I think it was just a matter of the server taking time to update things every so often and what not. As AngusATAT pointed it, it might just help a little too if I would learn to READ!!!! (okay, he was much nicer about it)
