Power Supply mod

I've been getting some parts together to build a mod from an old power supply.

Right now I have a power supply that outputs 5V @ 3A. This should work for my purposes. I've measured the output at 5.1v or so dropping to 5v under load.

This is going to be a pretty basic mechanical mod. Has anyone built anything similar or has any considerations I need to be aware of?

Make sure you are sure the capacitors in the PSU are fully drained before you open it up. There are some pretty big capacitors in there and they hold a charge for a suprisingly long time.

Sorry, I should probably clarify. This is a little power brick that was for an old camcorder.

I actually went ahead and got it all soldered up:

I just used an old rocker switch I had lying around. The joints need to be soldered again properly, but so far it vapes pretty well on a 3.2ohm clearomizer I was using for dripping. Now I just need to find a box to fit all the components.

Ahhhh...
Clarity is good.
Since this is a desk device, the box form factor is not the only route. Consider using something that is heavy and stands upright easily such as a paper weight. You can have the power supply on your desk behind some other stuff and have your hand unit attached with a much thiner wire.
