I have all of my USB ports taken up (in the back of my computer) by things and I have one usb extension that I use to connect my camera or my Kindle or my newly purchased PCC for my 510. It does NOT work apparently to charge my husband's new Riva OR to power a 510 pass thru someone gave to me (THANKS brandeeashlynn!)

I am assuming its because its an extension cord thing. I also tried both of these (riva charger and 510 pt) on the front usb port of my husband's computer and it doesn't work for either of them.

Any ideas? Can I buy a USB hub or something that would be strong? enough for these two things? I have NO idea what to buy and I'd hate to buy the wrong thing. I REALLY want to try this PT and am tired of charging my husband's Riva in the kitchen lol

Thanks in advance!

Lyn

For just charging things, or running a PT, this is nice:
Walmart.com: iQ-Power Dual USB AC Power Adapter: Audio
I run a PT and phone charger on it all the time at work, no problem. It has two USB connections.
A powered USB hub in and of itself may well not work for a PT, unless it says it provides at least 1.5A, and preferably 2A, of power on the USB ports. I've got a powered hub that definitely doesn't have enough oomph for a PT, though other devices run fine.

How does this work? Does it have a power cord or something? I can't tell from the picture how it is used?

Sorry, I really don't know anything about this kind of stuff. I'm worried I won't find something I can use at my desk (for purposes of PT) since all my outlets and things are behind my big desk. Finding a "free" outlet is going to be challenge enough lol

MiztrezzLyn- As you read up on hubs also think about getting one that not only puts out 5v, but one that you can plug into the wall outlet. Look at some that are also surge protected.
A bit frightening knowing that you have so much plugged into your computer. I bet that bad boy gets awfully hot!

The Walmart IQ plugs right into a socket -- a standard 2-blade plug that flips out from the underside of it. At home I run mine off of a 6' extension cord, while at work I run it off a power strip that then connects to a wall outlet. Very little total power draw from the AC power outlet side -- 0.2A maximum.
It has two USB sockets on the end of it. You can use it to power a PT, other PV chargers, a phone, whatever. It's purpose-built as a small USB power supply with decent amp output.

A little note here: Becareful using too many USB devices at once. Make sure your PC's power supply can handle it. I'm using an 950 Watt supply. If you have an older PC it may become overloaded. Remember there is a Hard drive, graphics card, MB, CPU, your USB devices and any other proprietary card installed that draws current.
