yea but the drill bit that is in my husbands set that is labeled 1/16 won't go into the zap air hole. I'm pretty sure it's been modified also, the seller just said he didn't modify it but didn't state if he got it from mmvapor or someone else. It doesn't matter, I like it the way it is.
I don't know if Jim has changed the size of the did air hole over the last year or not. The seller said something about there being an option for the air hole size but there isn't, not now anyway.

Interesting. I just tried a 1/16" drill bit in the air hole of my ZAP, prior to typing my previous post, and it fit perfectly. Maybe you have a ZAP with a smaller air hole. I know it was offered as an option, at one point. I thought it was discontinued.

I tried to get a picture of my DID and ZAP air holes but cant figure out my wife's camera today. The DID hole is a bit smaller though.

I have gotten used to a more open draw and that has been one of the things keeping me from ordering a Cobra. I'm going to give myself some time with the DID before I break out the drill bits, I really don't want to modify it. I know I'm keeping it though, so if I decide to bore it out it wont hurt the value at all.

It is giving very good flavor and the vapor is just a bit lighter than I'm used to. Not trying to be critical just making observations of how it compares to the devices I'm more familiar with. Overall I'm very happy with it. I bought the Roller to have a compact setup and the AC9 just made it too bulky. The short DID gives me exactly what I wanted from the Roller, a discrete, stealthy vape:D

DID air holes are 1.2mm. At one time Jim offered a 1.0mm top cap as an option. All Zen's products are much airier than DID's. It's up to personal tastes really. I sold my ZAP 24 hours after I bought it. For me, it was much too airy. I don't really see the pleasure of a "lung" inhale, but some folks do like it. Most people feel that vapor increases with a larger air hole, but flavor decreases. I haven't tried enough different genny's to give an honest assesment of this.

That IS odd that the air hole in mine is so small. I can't wait for the new DID to get here (out for delivery!) to compare all the holes LOL. But the drill labeled 1/16 is definitely too large for the zap hole. I bought it from Provape and there was no option that I'm aware of that offered any smaller hole. I like it the way it is but I get more vapor from the larger did.

When I got mine, I was very upset that the air hole might have been modified. Since I wasn't used to the open draw concept (just coming off cartos) I was convinced that everyone else was enjoying their tighter draws and mine was sold because someone messed up and drilled an air hole too large and got rid of it. I felt like I had damaged goods and here I had wanted a did for so long.. and I wouldn't be able to sell it on the classys unless I kept quiet about the air hole.

Then I read where lots of people were drilling theirs out with a 1/16 bit and mine had that same size so I felt lots better. Like I said above (or somewhere) up until a couple weeks ago, I still felt that the draw was a bit too airy and then I lowered the resistance to 1.2 and WoW what a difference.

When I first received my ZAP I didn't care for the airy draw either, but I quickly started to prefer it over the tighter draw of the DUD, so I drilled the DUD out to just a bit smaller than the ZAP with a #54 bit and it's pretty good for me at that. My AC9 has the largest air hole of the bunch at .0635" 1.61mm, the ZAP is .0625" 1.58mm, my DUD is .0550" 1.39mm, and the DID is .0465" 1.2mm. So I have a pretty wide range of experience as far as hole sizes go, but that doesn't take chamber volume or fluid dynamics into account.

Geez I wish ups would get here! I hate waiting on a package that has to be signed for! My husband just left to go to the hunting land (turkey hunting tomorrow) NOW would be a really good time! He doesn't say anything about my purchases but ..well..I don't want to push it! (Rule..he's a big time deer hunter and we do eat the venison ;) )

Thanks to the package signing deal, I had to miss my nap!

Well I drilled mine out with a #55 drill bit and I'm quite happy with the draw now. It's only about .1mm larger than stock but it was enough to make me happy, very happy!

Buzz, if you are up for a bit of an adventure, I highly recommend the DID with a porous ceramic wick setup. It is like it is made for it. The 1/8" fits perfectly and the height of the wick is exactly right. It is like it was made for it :). Zen is now on board with these and is going to be providing them with his version 2.1 ZAP. I can tell you that the DID is a MUCH better option for ceramic wicks. Many of us have broken a lot of wicks with the ZAP due to the cap design. No such problems with the DID. Great flavor, great vapor and the wicks last forever if you look after them.

I got it washed and set up. I bought a clearance did but the only blemish is a very light scratch on the tank part, you have to really look for it. I'm not using the tank part, I have a clear window on it so the "blemish" isn't even on the device now.

Remember.. this is the first time I've tried a slr on a mech. This is the moment I've been planning for the last couple months. Using the new did with 28g at .8... I don't know that it's any better than the other did at 1.2 on the Provari. It's hotter. at bit more intense I guess. Not near as smooth as the higher resistance.. not near the vapor as the did with the larger air hole with higher resistance. I don't particularly want to drill the air hole any larger, not right now at least.

I am noticing that my juice in the bottom of the tank is getting dark rather quick. I'm using a loose rolled straw wick and it seems to be wicking well. The juice in the tank of my older did is clear, it takes several tanks for it to start getting dark on the bottom (using a tighter rolled solid wick with twice the mesh in it) but this looser wick is getting dark immediately. that's interesting.

Where are you buying these ceramic wicks from?

I thought about trying some ceramic wicks when I saw them in stock at DV a few days ago but I have been having good luck with SS mesh so took a pass. Maybe I'll give them a try next time around.

Donna, I cant believe the difference just drilling the hole out by .1mm made. As I've said I didn't want to do it, but we went out for supper tonight(a reward for our Son bringing home all As on his report card) and I took the Roller/DID setup and I just wasn't happy with the tight draw. Vapor production is up, no loss of flavor, and most of all, I'm happy. A more open draw may not be for everyone, but I prefer it.

I'm sure I'll get around the playing with the ceramic, I've been watching the reports of it.

I may get my husband to drill mine out. The set of bits that he has goes down to 1/16 so I don't know if that equal to #55 or not. I'm going to do some more experimenting with it. I'm going to set the older, larger hole did to .8 and see how it performs and so on.
