So I got myself a mech mod setup. First one I've ever got, actually. However, I don't have an ohm reader, and I don't want to dive into something I know next to nothing about.
I found a website that sells pre built micro coils, which seems ideal. Now, where I'm stumped is if I buy a set at say .8 ohms (they vary from 1.6 down to .5) and set it up as a dual coil, what would be the resistance of both? Would the dual coils be .8? Or does the resistance go up or down when you put two on?
im asking this before I buy and get into actually building my own.
Thanks guys :)

Having a way to accurately measure resistance & battery voltage and test for shorts when using a mechanical isn't optional.
There is no way to be sure what the resistance will be without actually measuring the resistance.

The way most folks set them up 2 - .8 coils = .4

Thanks man. I just wanna be safe and sure before getting into it :)

I know you said it in the title but I am still going to say it, get a meter before you start. Having coils with no way to know for sure what they are firing at is bad juju and with a lot of them costing less than $20 there is no reason not to have one if you are going to be running mechs. Period.

I can't agree more! But, hey...it's his/her face and hand, not ours.

Maybe consider an Aspire Atlantis (replaceable .5 heads) or a Kangar substank (replaceable heads and build deck included) and inexpensive dvom / 510 box type ohm reader until you decide if you want to get into rba's.

My friend upgraded his set up and gave me his plume veil clone so I bought a nemisis clone. I'm actually saving up for a sigelei 150 so until I can afford that Im pretty much gonna use it as a trial piece. That's why I'd rather just wait and use the box mod as a reader. I've read that it's hard to find accurate ohm readers hence looking at pre built coils. I'm not looking to cloud chase or anything like that. I just want a safe vape that's better than my protank mini 2 on a vision spinner 2 haha.

Don't know where you read that but it's not true. USA OHM METERS

Can you recommend a decent accurate reader?

I get what your sayin but your wanting to skip the whole safety aspect of using an un regulated mech,Does your friend know how to build coils ? I would hope so if previously owned an RDA and he could show you how to build them.
What battery did you get for that nemi ?

Anytime, hope I didn't come off as rude or acting like your a noob (I know I still have my moments) but even if someone sells you a coil and says it fires at X.XX ohm's there is no safe way to know without one.

No it's cool. And you're totally right. That's why I wanted to check with people who I know would know their stuff before any final purchase. Thanks again.

Yeah but he got the guy at the local shop to build for him and they charge more than it would be to buy online and I just don't really like going in there :/
I got a Efest 35AMP IMR18650- 2500mah

I came here admitting I didn't know much, and saying repeatedly that I want to be safe. No need to be rude.

What he's trying to say is if that thing auto fired in your pocket it would burn a hole in your leg before you could get it out and then you would still need to take the battery out to keep it from fully venting ( exploding ).

No, that's what you're saying, and I appreciate that. He said "oh well it's his face, not ours!" When the ONLY reason why I came here in the first place was because I want to be safe.

My suggestion would to find another shop, that is the saddest thing I've heard of is selling a device and charging you for an extra coil with no instruction at all.

Look here :Kanthal A1 Wire 100 spool

Look on youtube : Rip Trippers Coil Building 101: Micro Coils, Macro Coils, Nano Coils

The Ultimate Kuro Koiler Wire Coiling Tool

Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

I live in a tiny town. Like 6000 max people. Only shop for miles. That's probably why they can get away with running it how they do. Most of the people who have gotten into vaping here have because of that place. And if you go in there asking for help on a device you didn't get from them in the first place they're really judgey about it. They're the holier than thou hipster kind of people and I'm just not about that.
Thank you so much though, I really do appreciate it.
