Just like many of the posts in the newbie section - I have questions. I have been doing a lot of reading and I am considering the TW 901. Here are a couple of my questions

- Does e-liquid go old? As noted in other posts, I smoke a mini-swisher ever couple of days and looking for a replacement to that. I don't anticipate that I will blow through a bottle of liquid very fast.

- How long will the cartridge stay good while in the e-cig? Will is dry out if I don't vape it frequently... ie daily? Seeing as there is only a drop or two, I figure it dry out with not use but perhaps the glycol keeps it fresh?

- When storing the unit or carrying it around, will it leak liquid if I don't keep it flat and level?

- When I read about carts lasting say 5-8 cigs... how many vapes would you say that is per cig?... 10? I am trying to work my math to help justify the purcahse or to hold off on the extra atomizer (seeing they last 28 days... but not sure at what smoking rate that is). I mean, a $100 for a 901 + juist + atomizer would last a long long time buying cigars at the rate I am going through them.

That's all for now...

Hey - welcome to the forum!

This is what I've learned in the time I've been here....

-I've heard quoted around that the ejuice has a 2 year shelf life it kept refrigerated for long storage...I don't think it needs refrig if you use it everyday, just if your looking for long term....

-the carts come with a little silicone cap, and a hard plastic cap over that. I put my cart in a plastic ziploc baggie on top of that each night to keep it from drying out.

-storing and transport - I haven't had any trouble with leaking and I keep mine stored in an old bracelet case and it bounces around in my purse....but different models (the old Janty Dura often quoted) do have some leakage issues.

-Carts do NOT last the quoted amount of cigarettes - the mfg's are being "generous" with their estimates. My 901 (and they have VERY small carts) will last about 3-4 cigarettes worth of vape before I have to top off the cart. But, that's the beauty of the juice - makes everything very economical! A 30ml bottle of smoke juice will last a heavy (1.5-2 pack/day) smoker around 1 month - I think.... That's what I've heard bandied about. I've only been vaping a week, and the liquid level in my bottle hasn't moved much, but I was a .5 pack/day smoker of ultra light cigs... I'm estimating that my bottle should last me around 2+ months...

-atomizers are finicky - but then again, this industry is in its infancy, and any person will tell you if you repeatedly heat a wire to its glow point, eventually, that wire's going to burn through. Get a couple of extra atomizers....I didn't, and now I'm scrambling. My ONLY atomizer died on me last night, and my shipment of spares hasn't come in yet. Analogs taste DISCUSTING! now.

Sorry this post is so much for you to read, but I hope I've helped..

Welcome to Vaping!

yes, you always want spare atomizers, estimated life is anywhere from hours to days to months. also, sounds like you aren't going to be a heavy user, so you may have better life with yours if you aren't using it daily.

and yes, plenty of posts and vids about cleaning and maintaining atomizers, just follow that advice BEFORE you let them go bad :)

biggest rule is...don't let them dry out, and second is don't try to smoke a dry atomizer. surefire way to kill it right off. just make sure they stay moist when you use them for sure.

Thanks for the response!

So you have been vaping for a week and the atomizer already went out. Hmm. Seems like and expensive way to go.

Are there links on how to prolong the life of the atomizer? I will search around.

I'm sure I didn't do something right and french fried the thing

One mini-swisher every couple of days is your smoking habit? If that's the case I wouldn't suggest any ecig to you except a disposable Ruyan, their Jazz or cigar. There is way too much putzing and preparation and supply cost with any others for a one-every-few-days habit.

Jamie -

You got it.. one every other day +/-. I guess I am interested from the idea of, I enjoy a smoke. I don't think I am really trying to quit but rather looking for a healthier alternative. Even one smoke is too many.

From a price standpoint - that's my biggest obstacle. I have calculated that if I spend $100 bucks on e-liquids, atomizer and a 901 ...pay off will be in 4.25 years! Hardly financial feasible but the health factor and convenience factor play a big part.

You are likely right nonetheless.

I think you have hit the nail on the head -

I'd be worried about getting more addicted to it smoking e-cigs. Maybe that's where my enthusiasm stems from. I know this will be more accessible and allow for more nicotine. You and I both know that if the e-cig is sitting next to me I will be far more inclined to take a puff or three versus picking up, going outside etc.

Hmm.

PS - It should be noted that I use to smoke around a pack a day through college and early professional carrier. I quit buying packs of smokes 8 years ago. Completely smoke free for 5 years... then cigar every now and again (every couple of months) ... now...every other couple days. It's certainly an upward trend in the habit but I like it (is that the nic talking?).

I think it more of the habit talking - the whole sordid fetish. Lighting the cigar, drawing the smoke into your mouth, inhaling and feeling the rush into your lungs, the exhale with pursed lips (so sultry). If it were the nic talking, I think you would want more then one every other day.

The nic withdrawl symptoms last 2ish months (frequent quitter - that's how it was for me), the drama and routine of smoking - well those withdrawl pangs never left me.....
