Hi All.

This is my first post so please go easy on me :)

I have recently started vaping on the E-lite cigs and am finding them tought to get on with.. I am a 15-20 cig a day smoker and although I think I am doing well and have cut down drastically the E-lites seem to be the cause of a dry throat whenver I use them.

So after finding this forum and speaking with Friends I decided to invest and find an alternative... After much research I decided to purchase an Evod Starter Kit and a few vials of flavoured e-liquid.

Would someone be kind enough to help answer the below questions?

  • Is there a general formula on how much E-Liquid would be equivalent in actual ciggarettes so i can work out cost of the liquid vs a 20 pack of cigs?
  • The starter pack comes with 2x 650mah batteries, generally how long do these last and how many times can they be charged?
  • Are the Clearomizers the part that holds the liquid? if so how long do these last? I have two in the kit.
  • Are the coil heads the part with the heater? again how long do these last as the kit is supplied with five?

I decdied also to purcahse three different flavours to start of (cheese cake, choco mint and chocolate ) each are 10ml bottles. How long should these last me?

Really appreciate the help on this guys..

Hi, I'm also new, 2 weeks in and have the evod starter kit, so this is what I find:
a pack a day smoker uses about 3ml liquid ( I smoked 25-30 and might use 3ml or less with these clearomizers)
My battery lasts 10+ hrs on a charge
yes the clearomizer holds the liquid
yes the coil heads heat the liquid, I had to replace 1 coil after 1 wk and the 2nd coil after 13 days, you never really know, so plan for 1 week, but have backups!
so 30 ml total at 3ml a day should last you 10 + days, at 15-20 cigs a day probably 2 weeks.
This is a rough estimate and only what I have found with my use of this kit.
Hope it helps

Thanks Jstar

Am i right in thinking to replace the coil you just buy replacement KANGER EVOD CLEAROMISER which the includes the coil? or are coils seperate?

Just running the numbers base on what you have put gives me the below which is hell of a reduction from normal smoking.

based on 30 days cigs:

30 x 8.95 = 268.50

Based on 30 days E cigs:

90ml Liquid = 22.50
4 Clearomisers = 13.96

Total = 36.46

Obvisouly these are only rough figures but thats one hell of a saving if you can stick with it.

Hi All.

I'll try. :)

So after finding this forum and speaking with Friends I decided to invest and find an alternative... After much research I decided to purchase an Evod Starter Kit and a few vials of flavoured E-Liquid.

I take it those batteries are set voltage (as opposed to variable voltage), but what kind of clearomizers come with your kit? Evods?

Is there a general formula on how much E-Liquid would be equivalent in actual ciggarettes so i can work out cost of the liquid vs a 20 pack of cigs?

Yes and no. Start thinking in mls of ejuice rather that in cig equivalency. It really depends of too many variables. I'd say 3-5 ml of liquid daily should do it. What nicotine strength are you're using?

The starter pack comes with 2x 650mah batteries, generally how long do these last and how many times can they be charged?

Li-Ion batteries are supposed to be good for 300 charges. More if you top them off rather than let them fully discharge before recharging. Depending on our vaping style, they may last you up to a year. A 650 mAh battery should give you about 6 hours of vaping.

Are the Clearomizers the part that holds the liquid? if so how long do these last? I have two in the kit.

If they come wit changeable coil heads, the clearomizers may last forever.

Are the coil heads the part with the heater? again how long do these last as the kit is supplied with five?

The coil heads are atomizers--they contain heating coils. You'll need several of those. Coils can be cleaned and reused several times. They can also be rebuilt--if you're handy.

I decdied also to purcahse three different flavours to start of (cheese cake, choco mint and chocolate ) each are 10ml bottles. How long should these last me?

See my answer above. On piece of unsolicited advice--get at least one flavor that's not dessert. Like light menthol or fruit. I don't know those juices you ordered, but they are all sweet and they are not coil-friendly.

Really appreciate the help on this guys..

Not at all. Welcome aboard.

Thanks Fourwinds..

See this is where i get confused.

On the website I purchased the kit from ( MyEpack) they sell the following

KANGER EVOD CLEAROMISER
Protank & Evod Coil Head 2.2 ohm

which part is it I have to change regualr? i am guessing as the Clearmosier does not have the wick in it that does not have to be changed? so in actual fact if all i have to purchase is liquid and the coil heads it would actually be cheaper as the coil replacements are on 1.70 each compared to 3.50 for the clearomiser.

This is what is included in the kit if it helps.

E VOD Starter Kit Stainless Steel
Kit Contents
2 x EVOD Manual battery 650mah
2 x EVOD 1.5ml Clearomizers (Resistance:2.5ohm)
5 x Bottom Coil Heads (Resistance:2.2ohm)
1 x 500mA eGo Fast USB Charger
1 x User Manual
1 x gift box

18mg to start with

You're fine. That's a nice kit.

I suggest you get different nicotine strength eliquids also--12 mg/ml for all day vaping, 18 mg/ml for those times when you need a bit more nic. Anyway, that's what worked for me. YMMV, but it's always a good idea to have several choices, especially at the beginning.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the UK juice vendors. Read reviews and buy small, sample size bottles whenever possible. If you're looking for decent and inexpensive eliquids, try Liqua. I like their Cappuccino and Coffee. Liqua uses Italian flavorings and their juices are very clean, clear and good quality. And they vape cleanly without leaving a lot of gunk on the coils.

I agree on trying different flave profiles. Maybe some thing like a bakery, a fruity blend, a chocolate something. Check out beverage flaves. I guess I mean start with 3 that are not so similar. From your first choices, I would recommend a creamy fruity something sweet. But taste is subjective. Some places have great sampler deals.

Also to add I was a 2 pack a day smoker and I go through 1.5 to 2 ml a day. Every one is different. These are all just ball part figures. But a good starting point.

Hi, Enigma, and welcome to ECF!

The setup you have is good. When you get replacement coils, I would suggest lower-ohm heads, perhaps 1.5-1.8 ohms. You may not get enough vapor on a 2.5 ohm head with those batts (but you might like it just fine).

I was surprised that someone thought your juice was expensive. 2.49 for 10 ml isn't bad at all. Better if it's $2.49 than L2.49, but either way you certainly didn't get ripped off!

FourWinds is a great guy (at least on ECF!) and since he's in the UK he might have been suggesting that he knows good places for liquids. Why not PM him? Also, now that you've got 5 posts, you can also post in the UK forum where you can find specific vendor recommendations.

I would warn you about your flavor choices a bit. You've picked two of the flavors that are the hardest to "get right" - cheesecake and chocolate. Don't be too disappointed if you're not crazy about these flavors, but you should also try flavors like:
Fruits (Peach, strawberry, berry mix, mango, etc)
Cinnamon Roll, absinthe,
mints, candies, even menthol

Good luck, have fun, and Vape On!

Thank you all very much.

I feel much more cumfortable now understanding what I will need going forward.

Any good suggestions on places to get liquid from? the current ones I got cost 2.49 oer 10ml but people seem to think this is expensive?

Welcome to the forum engima27. £2.49 for 10ml seems a good price to me (over here in France it's nearer £4.50 - £5.00) which is why I'm going to order some from LT Ecigs in the UK. Their prices are around the £2.40 - £2.50 mark and reviews seem pretty good.

Twobonehead, just a comment.. or two. :)

Kanger Evod batteries are 3.7v. I wouldn't recommend 1.5Ω coils--2.2Ω is perfect, IMHO.

Cinnamon and citrus flavors are tank crackers and I don't recommend them for eVods.

Katya,

I guess I agree that 1.5 might be a little low; but I think the 1.8 to 2.2 ohm range will be much better than the 2.5 ohms the OP is starting with.

Also, I've had a couple of different cinnamon-roll types (Mount Baker Cinnamon Roll and Good Life Deadly Sin) and neither of these are tank crackers (they're also among my favorite flavors). I think these are much less a problem than the "Fireball" or "red-hot" liquids. Citrus and wild cherry have both been tank-crackers for me, as well as some banana flavors.

Agreed. But he's only getting two 2.5Ω coils that come with the eVods--his spare coils are 2.2Ω--see post 9: 5 x Bottom Coil Heads (Resistance:2.2ohm).

The problem is, one never knows for sure, and we don't know where the OP is going to get his juices. Cinnamon is almost always on the list of possible tank crackers--together with those flavors you mentioned.

As far as juice in the uk goes, I've been using joose juice. He does very reasonable priced samples, and his 30 ml bottles are just over £7 and currently you get another 30ml bottle free of the same flavour.
He has good reviews and I have got to like his tobacco flavours after two years on fruit, it's a nice change.
On the UK forum there is a thread about joose juice.

£2.49 liquid is not expensive. However, it is Dekang which is not to many people's taste. I buy some Dekang from myepack but most of my liquid comes from

LT Ecigs

You have done well to get a new kit. E-Lites are extortionately expensive.

I vape 2ml a day, which is below average.

With E-Lites, that would cost £2,916 per year.

Filling with liquid costs me £300 per year.

Yes - those number are correct.

There are plenty of other cig-a-likes on the market in the UK. It's a shame E-lites charge FOUR times as much for the same product I can buy for £1 per refill.
