I just noticed that when I clicked on stuff in google and/or google images that it would re-direct it to someother site and would not allow me to use the back button...

I then tried all the obvious>>> Malware & Virus Utilities... It Didn't work.... It kept comming back...

Then I just typed in to google>>>> "Google Re-Direct Virus"

Saw that it was a issue and after posting about it in this thread, I then realized I could just do a system restore...

I did the System Restore and it removed it, along with fixing the ECF search function (which may or may not have been affected by the re-direct virus).

All is good now! :D

Oh, I remember what I did. I was getting a blank page on advanced search, but did a "delete all" on my browsing history in IE (I do that every now and then, because, well that's IE, it trashes itself with its temp files sometimes). After that, advanced search started working again.

I've solved an issue once by deleting my browser history...

So yes, it is worth a try...

However, you loose your browser history.

With the problems ECF has been having, I've been doing that every time I turn around---it seems to be the cure all advice!!!

I'm using IE 8 so this may not apply to IE 9 users, but when you go into the panel for deleting stuff, you have to make sure everything is checked in the panel, but not the top one that retains data for favorites. That clears everything, cookies, history, etc. More specifically, I think it's corrupted cookies that can scramble IE so at the least, make sure "preserve..." is unchecked and cookies is checked.
