So Jersey is the same way? It's illegal here too. If I drive up to WA or down to CA, it's fine.

When I was young, a group of us hung around an old gas station. The owner was the only one there and he was always working on cars and had to stop what he was doing and go out to pump the gas. He made a deal with us, if we pumped the gas for him, he would let us hang around there. It worked out well for him and for us.

Watch out for SB, folks, she's good !!!! lolSo gallant...but I wouldn't brag about having to rent a stud.
We were allowed to live and enjoy our childhood, back then. Now, you'd be sued with child labor and endangerment. Progress.![]()

They probably think that the people in Oregon and NJ are so dumb, that they will spill it all over the place and ruin the environment. So you actually have someone who works at the station actually pump your gas for you? What? Don't they think you're smart enough to do it on your own? Never heard of stuff like that...except of course when I was very, very, young.

Hmmmmm.....I think it's too dangerous to have idiots running the country, but they do.Copied from some site-New Jersey passed the law making it illegal to pump your own gas in 1949. At the time, legislators felt it was too dangerous to have untrained people dispensing such a flammable liquid.
Oh, all right. I'll lasso one up then...picky, picky.

So then if it's so dangerous, I assume that you have to take your lawnmower to the station to have it filled up ?

There's a law in RI that says that it's illegal to throw pickle juice at a trolley car.![]()
Geez Justa, now you're gonna lasso and tie one up?
I didn't think that the law went that far, Starry, I was being facetious. lolNo only in those red containers you can take the gas home.
