I don't eat much Thai since I found out how they made that fish sauce.... Soy sauce isn't that much better.. but it IS better......
Yeah, you got to SEE how they make fish sauce, but that's Vietnamese that specialize in fish sauce.

I thought Thai had it too. Checking.........
The ingredient found in almost all Thai dishes and every region of the country is nam pla, a very aromatic and strong tasting fish sauce. Fish sauce is a staple ingredient in Thai cuisine and imparts a unique character to Thai food. Fish sauce is prepared with fermented fish that is made into a fragrant condiment and provides a salty flavor. There are many varieties of fish sauce and many variations in the way it is prepared. Some fish may be fermented with shrimp and/or spices.
Pla ra is also a sauce made from fermented fish. It is more pungent than nam pla, and, in contrast to nam pla which is a clear liquid, it is opaque and often contains pieces of fish.
They probably do, but it's a national pastime with Vietnamese.
I grant you that. And good point. However, I'm wary of fish sauces in general. Fermented in particular. IDK why. It's me.
My bad. It's shrimp sauce the Vietnamese eat a ton of, fish sauce for Thai.

Sure it is, a delicacy. But it's very, very, very, very, very, very, very fishy. Not for me.
