you may have to get an analogue to digital converter ...I got a cheapie from Amazon that works to link my laptop to my TV. You can get better resolution if you're willing to spend more

Thanks Chris, that isn't what I am looking for. My PCs all have HDMI outputs so I can connect them directly to the TV. What I am looking for is a USB to Serial (RS-232) adapter since none of the newer computers have an RS-232 port. I am trying to get to the control console of my DVR through it's serial port since the network card in it has malfunctioned.

Ah...was worth a try (my laptop doesn't have an HDMI output..but that's ok, 'cause my TV doesn't have an HDMI input)

Well, after re-installing the drivers for the USB to Serial adapter for the 4^th time, I'm finally able to get into the DVR to reset the networking (didn't want to have to reboot the whole DVR, DW has had one thing or another recording all day). Anyway, DW is giving me the look so I'd better back slowly away from the keyboard.
