Probably not me, Fran, but usually you connect the router to your modem...and then your PC talks to via your router either wirelessly or by cable. And there's probably a disc that came with it...along with instructions, no?

    Maybe not. lol.

I don't know how that happened but anyway I connected the router and I couldn't put in my password to open my puter. I couldn't type. I tryed the disc-would not work. I ended up moving all the wires from my puter to a tower that no longer works and then back again and it finally let me type in my passwork. I have no clue.

Fran, if you're online try googling the maker/brand/model of your router - they usually have all the instructions/tutorials/online live-chat help and phone numbers on their websites.

I know you're frustrated but that's the best I can offer you. Other than sometimes you have to start with the disc first before going on to the next steps when installing/connecting stuff...

    Sorry, girlfriend.

Usually there's a special port on the back marked INTERNET or WAN that goes to the cable modem (like shoe is saying). Then there are 3/4./5 or so ports for computers and other stuffis to plug into (your computer goes there). Reboot your PC if it won't connect. Also check that windows is set for DHCP so it's on the same network as the router (google DHCP settings before you begin alll this junk and confirm).

You should be able to type the routers address into your web browser (192.168.1.1 maybe) and get screen that you can type the password into. You may need to make sure your antivirus/firewall isn't blocking it.

Quit info (kinda repeat)... GTG.... dinner time.
