Yup, I live in Reno, Nevada and love it here. I joined ECF on 7/30/10 so I don't know if it should be the 30th or 31st. Ideally, I want celebrate it when the status actually changes in my user ID pane.

Sounds good. I've been into electronics since I was a kid. Been doing it both as a hobby and professionally for 4 decades now. I'm also into related hobbies like ham radio. My theme would be electronics parts and circuit board assemblies.
No kidding, I'm a ham too, have been one since 1992, but I haven't been active in a couple of years. The "RM" in my name is my callsign suffix.

Hello all! I am a newbie to this thread - Salem invited me - how do you turn vet??

It is magic SM :)

Morning all.

Welcome to the ECF Pre-Vet thread !

A Pre-Vet is an ECF member that is about to have their status "Turn" to ECF-Veteran on or about the anniversary of their ECF sign up.

This thread is where you can hang out (courtesy of Whiskey creating this thread) and celebrate becoming an ECF-Veteran with other ECF members. You have the option (but not the obligation) to have an Avatar Theme Celebration on your turning day. You select a theme, and many of the group here will help celebrate by changing their avatars. Kind of an avatar costume party. You'll also get a bunch of congrats and a welcome thread created in a sub-forum for vets that pre-vets can't even see yet. If you want to have an avatar theme, start thinking about it! Try to give us enough advanced notice that we can dig something up for pics.

Welcome again. Please feel free to participate in the themes for others if you wish. JerryRM posts a list frequently.

See the FAQs and information posting at the start of this thread.

OK, I got lost and confused. I had too many windows open and I don't recognize myself with this "House" avi.
I've had too many "changes" in one day and an amateur like me can't handle it as well as you pros, lol.

I, good people, am going to bed.

Free, you know I'm with you on your turning. Big Congratulations!

Goodnight all! I'll catch up later (or maybe not, but I'll try)

Pre-Vet FAQ's:
Is this a requirement to become a Vet?
Nope! It's a fun time hosted by Whiskey and the crew here. You are not required to have an Avatar Theme, or Welcoming Thread, nor are you required to participate in others avatar themes. It's all totally optional. No pressure.

Who is invited? / I didn't get an invitation!/ What's the Deal?
Everyone that is within a month of their 1st year anniversary with ECF is welcome to simply post here and say "Hi". We'll welcome you and take it from there. You may have received a PM if we spotted you "out there" on ECF. If we missed you, don't take it personally, we can't catch everyone! The more you post, the more we are likely to spot you. But mistakes can happen. So feel free to come on in and join up. Speak up if you don't see your name on the list! Try and give us at least a few days notice as a courtesy so we can prep our avatars.

Do I have to be a Pre-Vet to post?
Nope! Come on in and celebrate. Participate in the Avatar Themes if you wish. Or just say "Hi" or "Congrats". It's all optional and non-exclusive. Of course, the theme days/events are for those that "turn" on a specific date.

About Avatars
We save the avatars in the new Veterans personal thread. As such, if you use a normal ECF link to them, they will disappear when you delete them from your personal ECF folders. It has been suggested that people use an image host of their choosing to host the images in a more permanent fashion. The vets can paste them into the thread directly. However, pre-vets don't have access to the thread. A catch-22. So....

Non-Veteran Avi Depot
In the sandbox (testing forum at the bottom of the home page) there will be an avi drop off for Non-Veteran participants in a turnee's celebration.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/sandbox/
You must set it up with a URL and a link to TinyPic is included to use if you don't have your own preference.
TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
Then your Celebration Avi will be taken and posted in the turnee's Welcome Thread for you.

here are the entire notes from the first page....
