I like New England. I like the seasons... Well, one can't have everything, can one?

California is nice, but we do have politics and taxes, also, not to mention mudslides, Santa Ana winds, traffic, droughts, earthquakes and, oh, did I mention taxes? :D

What are those "taxes" you speak of? We don't have anything like that in New York.

Yeah, I know Katya, but what scares me the mostest is the wildfires. I just tremble. I got surrounded 4 yrs ago. Pendleton Marine base was on fire too. I had to stay home from work b/c of standby for evacuation.
Trying to keep me away ??? lol
That's the one thing that we don't have here are wildfires. No place is perfect, that's for sure.

Nope, not that, but you need to be aware of them. They're just devastating when they happen, and then when the landscaping (flora/fauna) is crispy crittered, then we get the landslides Katya was referring to. Big chunks of mts. with million-dollar homes come tumbling down in the Malibu area where a lot of movie stars live.

Yup. I don't know what I fear more, fires or earthquakes. You can run away from a fire. Not so much from an earthquake, Think Japan...

They also say that one of these days, the east and west coasts are going to drop into the ocean. What are ya going to do, that's life.

I'm getting too old to be shoveling snow when it changes to rain and I have to get rid of it fast, before it freezes up into ice. There's nothing like being outdoors, at 11 pm, in the pouring rain, frantically trying to get rid of the snow that fell an hour ago.

I know, Jer, that's no fun at all.

We had a house in West Hartford. Huge backyard with a stream and pine trees, quaint and gorgeous. Looked a lot like Tib's yard, come to think of it.

But winters were no fun. I didn't much care for the humidity and the gnats in summertime...

But New York was fun. The city did the shoveling. :D
