showed up at 9:30 and again at 2:30. He hasn't found the food yet. I hope he gets it soon before he chews through anything important.
The bad part.... if he finds his yummy desert.... and dies behind the shower.... you have to fish him out... or it will smell.......

Cats are a safe efficient way to cure that Gummy
no there not, been there done that. Had 2 cats in house for years and still about once a year a rat would sneak in.
The cats would be in the house and the rat behind the wall. and the smell of the cat only offended me not the rat.
besides I'd rather have the rat:

Whiskey, I notice that your avi is taller than usual. How are you getting away with that?
We don't have rats here. Field mice. And Squirrels (a bit like tree rats), and racoons (like big fat rats...can wreck stuff). All but the field mice usually stay outside. We use live traps for the mice.... peanut butter bait works.

More than likely it's just a small mouse not a giant RAT but when he is chewing on something in the middle of the night he sounds a lot bigger.
I got 2 dogs also. with a doggy door so they can go out and get their smell all over the yard but that doesn't discourage the little rat either. It's just a thing you get use to in the country. But it only happens about one time a year. just it is usually just as it starts to get cold. I'll get him even if I have to install a couple .45 cal skylights in the roof in the process.

not much of a detour when driving - 59 to 81 - but, alas ....
best to keep that mouse inside, gummy [i seriously doubt it's a rat, lol] once they find your car it gets expensive ....
