I'm more of a history nut, PI and firearms were a significant part of the old west. I used to shoot, many years ago, but I haven't in a long time.

I suspected that, Jer. Some people call me a history nut, too. My areas are more like WWII and the Civil War, but I do understand.

Ok, quick history lesson, PI. In the old west, they traveled pretty light, since many were on horseback. They also didn't have a lot of money to spend, so the 44-40 was a practical round, since it was used in pistol and rifle. They only needed one type of ammunition.

Contrary to popular belief, however, the gun that tamed the west, wasn't pistol or rifle, but rather the double barreled shotgun. It's very hard to miss with a shotgun.
