As long as you stay off the analogs, no matter what you're doing now, it's better.
I went off nic right away and stayed off for about a year. Mainly because I was 60 and had some health problems developing. Nicotine does constrict the arteries so it was sort of a necessary thing. I won't say it was easy. Surprising my hearing even improved!!!
Life got a bit hectic so I started using a little here and there and will continue because it does help but it's 0 most of the time.
Even if you don't reach where I'm at don't beat yourself up over it.
I've got a plan to be back down to 0 nic by the time I'm 60 too..

In all seriousness though, I was able to drop the nic completely about 2 months after switching to vaping. I stayed that way for about a month and half and then realized that my juices just did not taste the same at 0 nic. Figured that 10 - 12 mg was not doing much harm anyway, and bumped it back up so that I could continue to enjoy the juices. I was a Benson & Hedges Ultra-mild smoker at a pack a day. Switched the day I got my eGo kit.
