Hah! Her first post is dated November 23! :D

That won't help us...

Sorry that I missed debbs turning :( I did not get home in time. I posted her first post in her thread and I think it was September?

Hi there BR !!!

Happy Friday Gummy ! Sorry stuff is breaking down.....

Atty ! Hi !

Thanks, 1st thing this morning the boss calls in to have someone bring me out onto the GC. When I got there the fairway mower was over on the side with 4 or 5 people looking at it. It seems that the operator filled it up with gas instead of diesel.
Yes it blew up the 7600 dollar engine. And no the boss won't buy a new engine (or mower) he want's me to tear it down and rebuild it.... The other boss tried to tell him to sent it to the dealer and let them do it. I'm cool with that. But if I tear it down ,,, it will never run again. I am not now nor have I ever been a diesel engine mechanic. And I don't have time to learn how with all the other crap breaking down everyday there.

Head for the hills Gummy........

If you don't tear it down... the one (dumb) boss will say "Why is he here then?"
If you do tear it down, the dealership may not help, or will prolly ......

New operator???? Get the cap off of it and see if it says "Diesel" on it, or is a different color... show him.......

If you're lucky, only flooded it out, not broke the rods/shaft or something. Maybe you can drain all the lines and clean the injectors out (if they still work). Wonder how much diesel was still left in the tank before he topped it off?

The * by names means those are set. Still looking for that someone special for the others so everybody keep an eye out. And thanks for your efforts! :)
Classy has generously offered to start the threads with no names beside it. :)
All welcome threads should be started in the Veterans Forum by four o'clock the day before.

Welcome to the ECF Pre-Vet thread!

A Pre-Vet is an ECF member that is about to have their status "Turn" to ECF-Veteran on or about the anniversary of their ECF sign up. You also need anywhere from 70 and 75 post.

This thread is where you can hang out (courtesy of Whiskey creating this thread) and celebrate becoming an ECF-Veteran with other ECF members. You have the option (but not the obligation) to have an Avatar Theme Celebration on your turning day. You select a theme, and many of the group here will help celebrate by changing their avatars. Kind of an avatar costume party. You'll also get a bunch of congrats and a welcome thread created in a sub-forum for vets that pre-vets can't even see yet. If you want to have an avatar theme, start thinking about it!

We will not turn away last minute request, but please try to give us enough advanced notice so we can dig something up for pics. Two weeks prior to your turning date would be awesome.
We try to limit scheduling to the current and the following month.

If you are a pre-veteran and want a welcome thread in the Veteran's Forum and or an avatar theme for your turning day please do the following: Post in this thread and PM me your request.

This thread moves fast so as a final safeguard double check the list that is posted here several times a day sometime before your turning day.
Or the list here: PreVet List

We do our best to accommodate multiple members turning on the same date. Each member is free to choose their own theme; participants rotate and/or combine themes as desired.

Joining in on the celebration is for all members (new and old) so please feel free to participate in the themes for others if you wish. If you are not a Vet yet and want your pic added to Celebrant's thread in the Veterans Forum, there is a Depot located in the Sandbox.
Once you get to the Sandbox, look for the celebrant's thread and follow instructions.

Again, I post this list frequently on this thread.
List can also be found here: PreVet List

See the FAQs and information posting at the start of this thread.

As for the operator, he has been filling that thing up for years, So I just calk that up to,,," ooops, crap happens" and we all make mistakes. As for the one boss that wants to send it out,, +10. The one that wants to fix it, He use to be the mechanic and knows how to do it, he sees it as a challenge and when it is repaired he would look better for saving all the money that the dealer would get. I don't see a challenge as something to overcome anymore. I see it as something to avoid. I did get him to agree to change the fuel, fuel filters and oil in hopes of getting the knock down to almost gone and run the hell out of it till it blows. That may just work. I'm just hoping it will sling a rod right through the side of the block so that it won't be worth fixing for sure.

Some of those diesel engines are 100ish years old. lol. They have shows for em. lol. Maybe clean/replace the injectors....if you ever get a chance???? (not that I would know). But hey, sounds like you got it covered.

Yep, crap happens to everyone. lol. Doh to operator.
