Hi CES. 
Couldn't afford to live there, expensive homes.
We sold everything, went there with 32 boxes and a car. Came back with 16 boxes!
I'm no pack rat.

I got a friend who has family there and they rent a house about the size of a double car garage and the rent is $1500 a month!!!

That is expensive...wow. but even more, i can't imagine winnowing all my stuff down to 16 boxes. I AM a pack rat.

That's what I mean, crazy. I was lucky, saw home prices were depressed back in 2000, bought an acre on the North Shore of Oahu for 430k. But I didn't want to pay a mortgage anymore, so left.
I manage to collect things over the years but now I'm in the mode of downsizing. I'm not throwing just to get rid of but I am not replacing things as they get broke or old.

I came to realization all material things can't be taken with me on that final train ride.

There are some inconveniences, like Tempur and others charge extra to ship there. You can't drive anywhere, jets only. And the bugs, the bugs! 6 inch centipedes! 8-o Served me right to live in the country there.

was it difficult adjusting from 80 degrees and sunny to somewhat cooler and rainy?

: you'll need one of those digital frames with changing pictures. course, by the time you need it, you could have changing holographic avis.
