Wow... how to begin to explain that one...? There was a boat. The people on the island thought that Penny had sent the boat to look for Desmond, who was Penny's "perfect one". Charlie found out that it was not, in fact Penny's boat, however, he was stuck in an underwater station that was being flooded. So he was trying to warn Desmond that the boat was not Penny's. His last, dying act was to get a Sharpie, and write on his hand, "not Penny's boat". Then the water came rushing into the room and that was the end of Charlie. One of the saddest, and best episodes of Lost there was.
